I bought a similar LG last year and I love it- so quiet!
I was going to suggest the Buffy Prom episode with Wild Horses but checked and it’s just outside the window (May 1999). But who doesn’t like a smuggle?
The Chicago Cultural Center has a beautiful Tiffany dome and an exhibit of Fabiola Jean-Louis’ art. I saw the exhibit in Boston and it was exquisite.
Do we see how much more effective this is at making the argument for what is good about cities by *showing it* rather than simply standing on an apple crate and proclaiming it?
I call them turklings! I refuse to be corrected.
Putting in a plug for your local library for hard to find films! I paused the podcast during the #4 pick and the MA Minuteman Library Network, for example, has multiple copies. If you have a physical media player your library is a wonderful FREE resource! You can also stream Kanopy for free.
What a boneheaded decision by Vanity Fair- they’ve lost my money today. @rilaws.bsky.social reviews are why I subscribed and brought me to so many critics and culture writers including @kateyrich.bsky.social and @jowrotethis.bsky.social, all gone from VF now. Hire Richard so I can keep reading him!
I got it by accident as well. Definitely thought it referred to getting your leg stuck in something. 😂
Wow. A group of top scholars at Harvard just sent a letter to its president, Alan Garber, warning against surrendering to Trump.
Signatories include Steven Levitsky, Dani Rodrik, Ryan Enos, Theda Skocpol, and Steven Walt.
Someone forwarded it to me. Read it here:

Shooting our videos is a little bit different now.
“I never set out to sue Harvard. I only asked them to tell the truth. But they made this what it is — they turned my genealogy book that I promised my mom I would write into a great American epic story, just because they forced me to fight with them.” —Tamara Lanier, activist and author
I wrote about America’s most premium sports lad, Timothée Chalamet
It’s my birthday too! I think a counter parade is in order.
I had this lunchbox!
Repost with the first album you bought with your own money.
Brittany Haas too!
It is also my birthday and I’m shocked this didn’t happen the first term. I’ve been calling this for years. I vote for celebrating Che Guevara or Boy George instead- also June 14th.
Black Bag, Mickey 17, Wait Until Dark, and Call Me By Your Name
Two new and two I’ve seen a dozen times.

some helpful reminders:
-not all jews support israel
-criticizing israel is not the same as being antisemitic
-being pro-palestine does not equal being pro-hamas
-arresting someone for being pro-palestine is a violation of the first amendment
-violating someone’s first amendment rights is bad
can't believe it's 2025 and i'm stressed about tariffs and measles, like am i a character in an american girl book
“Not to put too fine a point on it, but today marked the full flowering of a Nazi-like foreign policy, backed up by the bulk of the GOP machine: one where allies are to be humiliated and reduced to supplicant vassals; one where humiliation becomes a defining part of diplomacy”
Excellent news!
As someone who unfortunately shares this birthday I’ve been waiting for/dreading this since 2016.
