What the spread of the “great replacement” conspiracy theory means for humanitarian aid As racialised narratives increasingly determine how and where NGOs can operate, humanitarians must embrace a more politically informed approach to their work.

#Neutrality doesn’t mean political silence

Humanitarian action must be rooted in political and historical awareness, not only technical aid

The Gaza health information system: Rebuilding for a resilient future

Gaza’s health data system was strong but is now mostly destroyed. Even amid conflict, reliable data is vital for effective health response and advocacy.

In 2024, @amrishbaidjoe.bsky.social and partners met to explore this, now published in PLOS Global Public Health.

Great to continue our work with the #EPIET, #EUPHEM and #MEDIPIET fellowships and lean on emergency response experience from @who.int and @msfluxor.bsky.social. For over a decade we have rich exchanges with fellows, not just on science and methodologies. But on the rough reality of emergencies #MSF

Just back from Cox's Bazar. It's been 5 years since my last visit. Many things changed and many remain the same. Wonderful to see old @who.int friends and colleagues and amazing work our @msf.ca collègues are doing. Hope we can do more on surveillance and seeing the impact of long term detention.

Changes? Some for the better, and many for the worse, especially when the sun goes down. With over a million people that have no legal nationality and direct funding cuts, the situation remains vulnerable. Fortunately many kids with smiles, our jobs to keep that smile strong over their lifetime.
