Another (small) milestone reached. This is running on an early version of Chatto Cloud, opening later this year. More news soon. Stay tuned, and do drop by and say hi :)
Last call! Submit your session to Agentic Conf Hamburg - the call for speakers closes tomorrow.
Already blown away by the submissions so far. March 22nd is shaping up to be a fantastic day - can't wait to meet you all π

chatto sez hi
Incredible things happening in OSS right now. If you're about to release some non-trivial app into the open, I think you should sit things out a little bit to see where all of this lands.
An interesting approach for commercial OSS projects:
- Keep the core OSS (free to learn from & vibe-fork)
- Keep the test suite closed source
Quality is the only differentiator when writing code is cheap, and so tests become more valuable than the source itself.

Strong "Call of Code-ulu" vibes!

They'll hate you for building something they can't. They'll hate you for not including the feature they want. For using tools they don't like. For not immediately yielding ownership of your work. For not killing yourself for them.
And then they'll tell you you're the one who's destroying FOSS.

So, this was a satiric reply, was it? Just checkin'
One thing that clicked: treating code as materialization of intent, not the primary artifact. I'm not writing implementations - I'm building specifications (ADRs, skills, epics and tickets) that guide the AI, often in collaboration. The design becomes the deliverable. (2/5)
Tja. Allerdings: Was muss, das muss.
I love this amazing little app. It's matured very nicely over the past couple of weeks. Give it a try on the dev server (just be ready for missing features and bugs)

Come drop by the Chatto Development space on my silly little test instance, we have regular development updates and also cookies!
(Actually just one; the session cookie. Chatto doesn't track you or phone home anywhere, sorry)
Meet me there as well. Come, join us. It's good.
So excited for this. Meet me and other venturing people on the ephemeral test instance of Chatto, an European lightweight chat/communications system.
If you want to give an early version of Chatto a try, you can do that this weekend. Stay tuned.
Screenshot of Chatto, my WIP Discordslacklike in a single ~45 MB executable that you can easily self-host.
ok so I made a discord in 45.7 MB
A screenshot of a dev instance of Chatto. A room with my buddy Carlo and me chatting about how great Chatto is (what else.)
Just in case you've been wondering: yes, #Chatto is real. A full self-hostable Discordslacklike in a single 44 MB binary that runs out of the box with no external dependencies.
(Well, there may be one or two missing features still. :b)
Grant me the serenity to not use AI for art, the courage to use AI for stuff that is not art, and the wisdom to know the difference
VERY GOOD EMPLOYEE
People are surprised when I tell them Chatto doesn't use any existing chat protocols. They're even more surprised when I tell them that it doesn't try to establish any new protocol, either.
It's just a chat app for your friends, community, company. That's all. No decentralization. No federation.
Screenshot from the MatterMost website. All military. Title is "Mission in Motion". yuck.

One of the many reasons why I'm building a self-hostable group chat app is that this is how the top players in this space (both US-based) are marketing themselves now
"Relativ kompetent" bedeutet immer noch, jeden einzelnen Satz nachbearbeiten zu mΓΌssen. Und es ist unklar, inwiefern die Verarbeitung lokal oder entfernt stattfindet - oder beides.
