I think I'm most excited about the controller at this point. How did that feel to use?

So much to do, but so much to achieve!

Exactly. Although sometimes things are easier in another engine and you'll need to weigh the cost of switching.

None of this is anti Godot by the way, I want to try it out myself once I'm finished with my current projects!

Seeing a lot of devs jump to Godot right now to try something new and escape the reasonable problems with the major 2 engines.

Just make sure the engine you choose is one you/your team understands well enough to ship with confidence. The best one for what you are building. #gamedev

Might look into making infographics for #indiedevs from a publishers perspective

The Steam Deck being the 4th most developed for platform now is a pretty big deal.

If your game isn't running well on Deck you're leaving a significant audience on the table.

Switch engines in this economy?

Maybe I should dedicate more time to learning advanced shaders 🤔

Ooh I love this effect. Getting a little jealous of all the Godot shader work compared to Unity

Development of Cheese Chasers | Problem 18 An in-depth look at the development of Cheese Chasers. How I came up with the theme, the important concepts I learned, and what I'll take with me for the next game.

With a new game comes a new development post! It's quite technical as I dive into many concepts I learned while creating Cheese Chasers.

Thanks to @emmettfried.bsky.social for their advice when I needed it!

Give it a read!

Every game dev has at least one feature in their project that exists purely because someone said:
“how hard could it be?”

It was hard.

Steam sales grap showing Launch and Daily deal peak

Steam sales grap showing Launch and Daily deal peak

tips for indie devs, you can ask steam if your game is eligible for a daily deal (link below)

We did it for squeakross, timed our big content update with the daily deal and it did great!

the smaller peaks are seasonal/events sales

We have been starved of good scifi films in the last decade, I know we are very far away but I'm looking forward to Dune part 3 and WILL be seeing it in IMAX.

Marathon Is Already Improving On Arc Raiders In One Key Area - Kotaku Bungie's shooter will take a stricter approach to cheating

Marathon will take a stricter approach to cheating, definitely on board with this but as always false positives or proximity to cheating players could be a big problem. There's always a fine line that needs to be managed. #GameIndustry

Next Fest stress is real. If your numbers aren't hitting the Trending tab today, don't let the algorithm dictate your worth as a dev. Some of the best selling indie titles I’ve worked on started with a quiet demo week and built a slow burn. Keep going.

I love Unity Gizmos, add Gizmos to everything.
In fact, additional extensive Gizmo options would be a great Unity addon, I'm aware runtime gizmos are a common addon. But pure new expansive gizmo options would be great to have.
