I had the pleasure of writing a chapter on Finnish occupational titles for this exciting cross-linguistic collection on gender-inclusive language. The main result of my study was that Finns still prefer masculine job titles and that language attitudes explain the variation in usage.

Now it's official: I have received funding from the Research Council of Finland to study gender exclusive and inclusive language in Finnish with my FINGEL project! I start as an Academy Research Fellow at the University of Helsinki in October, hurray! 🥳

Why don't reviewers always provide full references instead of just indicating author + publication year? It can be difficult to pinpoint intended references, especially if you are new to the field or the author question publishes a lot. I don't find it adds to my workload as a reviewer to add refs

Pronouns in crosswords, 1930 edition: this puzzle from the Brooklyn Daily Eagle presumed that solvers would be familiar enough with gender pronouns to know that the answers to 13, 18, and 40 across are himer, hesh, and thon.
Not finding any typos in proofs makes me suspicious 😅 a finished article is a nice way to start the year though!
