"I am the farm worker going home at evening": gender fluidity, rural landscapes, and the Women's Land Army Archivist Lottie Wood explores gender and landscapes in E. M. Barraud's reflections on her time in the Women's Land Army.

A common fictional narrative shows people with nonconforming identities finding self-acceptance in towns and cities.

This #LGBTQHistoryMonth, archivist Lottie Wood explores how author E. M. Barraud found the opposite, through rural work and the Women’s Land Army.

I used one of these the day before Feb break to show (truly! a curriculum-related film!). At 2:30 I dashed to the car. When I got back, it wouldn’t fit out the door. 😱 One of the custodians said the old cart was too weak so they’d replaced it with a bigger one IN MY ROOM without measuring the door.

We won our lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Transportation after they illegally attacked electric vehicle infrastructure funds.

This is a big victory for electric vehicle projects and our fight against climate change.

Menopause is a natural stage of life that affects millions of women across the country.

But too many of us can’t access accurate information & care, leading to discomfort & health disparities.

With @demwomencaucus.bsky.social, I am urging HHS & FDA to strengthen & expand menopause research.

The Rouge Plant was a routine elementary-years field trip for Detroit area schools when I was a kid. Red hot ingots the size of a refrigerator passing in big pincers as we ran to the protected area of the catwalk. It’s probably tamer/more protected now (apart from the heckling). 😜

Earthworms may help stop antibiotic resistance from spreading Earthworms remove 70-95 percent of antibiotic resistance genes from farm manure, making safer fertilizer for crops.

Scientists now see vermicomposting as more than waste recycling. Vermicomposting works as a biological system that blocks antibiotic resistance at several levels. www.earth.com/news/earthwo...

How Detroit Became a Hub for Black Art A decade before the mainstream Black Arts Movement, Detroit underwent a transformation of its own, driven by Black artists who recognized a need for opportunities and community.

In 1958, Black art was not being shown in Detroit’s major institutions. Painter Harold Neal and his contemporaries started a collective of Black artists who created their own opportunities, marking the unofficial beginning of the city’s own Black arts movement.

Oh wow! This is what happens when you're photographing MSS & don't capture the text in the inner gutter. 1st, here's the photograph (made about 100 yrs ago) of the Codex Salernitanus, f. 82ra. Although that big tear of the page is obvious, the inner gutter hasn't been fully captured in the photo.
