Scoop: After Australia ruled out an AI copyright exception, the business lobby had a new plan: bypass the copyright system.

A leaked Business Council of Australia doc shows it considered, then ditched, a push to let AI companies train on Australia data without paying.

Interesting vibe shift around Australia's teen social media ban in the last week: News published a (not scientific) survey saying 70% of 10-16yos are still on social media, a vocal supporter of the ban said that the 4.7 million accounts removed is a useless stat, UK rejecting push for a ban...

This Is How Much Anthropic and Cursor Spend On Amazon Web Services So, I originally planned for this to be on my premium newsletter, but decided it was better to publish on my free one so that you could all enjoy it. If you liked it, please consider subscribing to su...

This also means - per my reporting - that Anthropic spent $2.66bn (so three quarters of its LIFETIME compute) on AWS between Jan and Sep 2025. These costs came to me through AWS sources and I stand by them fully, as they are direct measured costs vs. investor deck slop.

I think the truth is that Anthropic likely misled reporters about its previous years’ revenues through deceptive leaks. I would guess 2025’s revenues were lower than $4.5bn and the majority of the remaining $500m is from 2026. This is an absolute scandal.

The inference costs are in addition to costs from training the models. Anthropic last month expected its costs for training its AI models for 2025 to be roughly $4.1 billion, up roughly 5% from its summer
projections. OpenAI, meanwhile, expected to spend $9.4 billion on compute for training its Al models last year.

Reports had previously said Anthropic made $4.5bn in 2025 on $2.79bn of inference and $4.1bn of training.

This would mean it made $500m total in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2026 so far combined.

In a field as competitive as frontier AI, this feedback loop if allowed to persist
could result in harm well beyond the immediate consequences of the government's actions.
Training and serving frontier-level models like Claude requires extraordinary computational resources. Anthropic has already spent over $10 billion on model training and inference (serving the model to end users) and expects to spend many billions more in the coming years. Although the company has generated substantial revenue since entering the commercial market exceeding $5 billion to date—it has nonetheless had to raise more than $60 billion in outside capital to fund its operations. Anthropic has raised this capital by issuing investors equity stakes in the company.

Based on their lawsuit filed against the DoD, Anthropic appears to be admitting that reports about its revenue and costs are fake, saying its revenue to date “exceeds $5bn” and training/inference “over $10bn.” Previous reports said $4.5bn.

Single Daily Tablet Shows Powerful Results for People With Drug-Resistant HIV A large international clinical trial has unveiled a promising new option for people living with highly treatment-resistant HIV.

A development such as this has been a goal for HIV researchers for decades. It is important because people who are faced with difficult treatment regimens are less likely to be compliant.

Not a final ruling, but will create chaos in getting results from Dallas County"

Wow. If any races in Dallas County are super tight, this will be a huge legal fight as thousands of votes hang in purgatory.

Really concerned to hear the Defence Secretary refuse to rule out UK's involvement in future strikes on Iran.

Iraq lessons must be learned.
Further escalation in the Middle East makes us all less safe.

Starmer must rule out UK involvement immediately.
