I hadn't seen this game before, it looks very charming! I'll definitely try the demo.
thank you everyone for your suggestions!! here's all the big aussie and nz-made games you should watch this year!!
So honoured to have my game's poster on @flatfootsandfools.bsky.social's awesome wall of detective games π€© (and relieved it passed the thorough and adorable fluffy inspection!)
I'm making a mystery game that's due to release at the end of the year, I'm pretty excited for that too π store.steampowered.com/app/4189100/...
Adaptory is coming really soon and looks amazing (I loved the demo even though I don't usually play this genre) store.steampowered.com/app/2201620/...
Death at Sycamore Hall from @hesperusgames.bsky.social promises some magic with our mysteries in 2026. After A Case of Fraud, I was excited to see what's next, and this looks very cool.

2026 has the potential to be an even better year for detective games than last year, which had at least 46 releases! I made a thread here for upcoming games I am aware of. If I have played the Demo or Playtested it, I will describe the games a bit, as well as when they state their release dates.
Such a useful list from a detective game expert! This was a great reminder of all the small, free games out there that I really want to try, as well as the awesome Steam releases this year. Thanks for highlighting this great year for detective games!!
A Case Of Fraud from @hesperusgames.bsky.social. This is a nice game about recreating a corporate org chart with batches of evidence, and figuring out who committed the crimes. Mostly information analysis and synthesis, not search heavy like the Roottrees despite appearances. A short but good play!
Good spotting! There are at least four other games referenced but it's the first time I've seen someone mention the Blue Prince one π
I did see that, I was very chuffed β€οΈ
Celia writes so thoughtfully about game design on Discord, so it was fun to come across her devlogs! I highly recommend playing her full catalogue of narrative deduction games - they are each quite different but her narrative voice stands out as a highlight in all of them

New game in progress π₯³
This one is a little darker, a little more Obra Dinn, a lot more magic (and there's still a cat!)

I playtested this game and loved it! It's tricky and funny and a great time. And there's a bundle with A Case of Fraudπ
Recently got time to play A Case of Fraud by @hesperusgames.bsky.social! What a delightful several hours of evidence-poring-over and blank-filling-in. The office drama was relatable and entertaining, the pet angle charming, the end of the game nice and challenging. Highly recommended!
I've just published my full playthrough of A Case Of Fraud, a game by @hesperusgames.bsky.social that follows on the steps of the great The Roottrees are Dead. And I've enjoyed as much as that one! Watch here youtu.be/RSoigxOt6P0 #ACaseOfFraud #TheRoottreesAreDead #LetsPlay #FullPlaythrough

I've now added a little note at the bottom of the description on my Steam page about the art :)
No worries, I know what you mean, I wouldn't be at all confident in spotting AI art these days!
Hey, glad you enjoyed it! The art is hand drawn on an iPad using Procreate :) I feel like this is a rite of passage, someone thinking my art might be AI π
BTW I'm pretty sure the Steam page only mentions AI if you have used it
A Case of Fraud is a new Roottrees-like (I guess that's a genre now?) from @hesperusgames.bsky.social where instead of filling in a family tree, you're filling in an organisational chart.
Great for Roottrees fans, but also as an introduction to this type of game. Watch our review below!

New review! It's A CASE OF FRAUD, from @hesperusgames.bsky.social.
If you liked THE ROOTTREES ARE DEAD, this ticks a lot of the same boxes.

Bureaucratic fun is the best fun! Really glad to hear you're enjoying it π
The full game released yesterday! The demo is still available to anyone who wants to try it though :)
If you liked The Roottrees Are Dead and want more games like it, you'll probably like A Case of Fraud, a very similar game that's nice and short and cute. I really enjoyed it store.steampowered.com/app/3036350/...
