So many England and Union flags out all over the place in York today, it’s a bit like being back in Glasgow. Makes it easier to spot your racist neighbours though I guess. Reminded of this Fugazi lyric:

β€œWe draw lines and stand behind them
That's why flags are such ugly things”

After the trans rights protest in York this afternoon - a beautiful show of collective resistance which made me feel proud to live here and be part of this community - I just keep thinking of the trans and non-binary people I saw weeping in fear and despair - some strangers, some people I love. πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Definitely! Even Vast & Boundless sneaks in the story about going to the city and all that, that’s a little mini romance - and that one in less of a scary apocalyptic way than the others (if I’m remembering it right). You’re a (not so) secret romantic!

As a person with a strong and specifically working class West Yorkshire accent, this does not surprise me.

Given how much I talk IRL you’d think I’d love a platform like this. Turns out that talking to no one in particular and therefore Everyone in the World yet simultaneously Literally Yourself is not as easy as they make it look. SchrΓΆdinger’s audience.

Here I am moonlighting way outside my discipline (as if I had a discipline lol) with my take on Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria.

In the chapter I talk about affect, entanglement, embodiment, and the horror of agency
