We held a vigil for Renee Good and ICE victims Friday evening in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Even in the cold steady rain, more than 40 people showed up with signs and candles. It felt good to connect with others who want to take our country back from the thugs.
You never know what will click with a group and what won’t. Ours had a terrific discussion of “Iceland’s Bell,” a 1943 book by Halldor Laxness. Not a banger, but lots to talk about.

Just finished rereading this for the first time in 30+ years. The book was grim enough then, but an order of magnitude more menacing now that we have such openly hostile leaders.
Solidarity food pantry is just around the corner from me and I send them money every month. For October, I also gave to Atlanta Community Food Bank and to Community Assistance Center. I sent the Good Mews cat shelter some money too. More in November and December - winter is coming!

Senator Ossoff is fantastic. He did a lot to put a stop to a big strip mine beside the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. He supports a ban on Congress members owning individual stocks. He has been outspoken in defending the CDC and other Georgians harmed by the current regime.

Goldcrest - along with the closely-related Firecrest, this is the smallest bird in the British Isles. Not easy to photograph as they are often amongst dense vegetation & move quickly.

If I never see the word "crackdown" again, it'll be fine with me. Especially since it always seems to mean "tantrum" or "hissy fit" in current usage, and to have nothing to do with the rule of law.
