Oh Iβm so sorry, what a horrific year.
You did fabulous!
Not electing Kamala Harris has got to be the
most colossal fuck up America has ever made .
TV screen on top of white draws showing Joanna standing in front of a shopfront with a rainbow display wearing a colourful dress, a rainbow necklace and purple cardigan. Along the bottom of the TV it says Wellington Festival celebrates 40 years of Pride.
@johubris.bsky.social looking fabulous on Breakfast talking about @wellingtonpride.bsky.social
Why is day 3 after any surgery so brutal? On struggle street already and itβs not even 9am yet.
It is really weird to me when people donβt like reading and books.
I get not having enough time to read. I get wanting to read more, but there are just too many distractions around you. Obviously, I get having disabilities that make it difficult to read.
But just not liking books? Who are you?
Gratifyingly, Unichem Willis St are slammed with booster vaccinations at present, need to book ahead. People are taking it seriously, even if the government isn't.
This actually feels really reassuring I get the appeal
Chart comparing excess mortality across various countries during the covid pandemic (2020-2023). US and UK were the worst. Sweden, Australia, Taiwan, and Korea were middle of the pack. NZ was the clear winner by a huge margin.
Fundamentally this is the only chart that really matters when comparing covid responses across countries.
By the most important measure, NZ had the best performance in the world. It did so well that fewer people died than expected!
Genuine kudos for this from my region's civic leaders.
Speaking with one voice against this immoral law change.
βBaker said people were not getting booster shots and for many, it had been quite some time since they were last infected and antibodies were dropping.
It was enough to give the virus "the edge".β
Might be an idea to have a louder health/comms response given our health system is much worse vs 2020π«
okay the fact you can OIA a minister's chatGPT logs is pretty funny, sometimes the NZ administrative state is good actually
I'm just annoyed that I feel like all the knowledge and the technology we have means we could all be having a really nice time and scientists could be doing science and everyone could have enough food and shelter and everything they need but instead *gestures at everything*
A rare example of rich boomers doing good with their money.
Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOUβRE WELCOME
Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.
Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.
Picture of Luxon looking like someone stole his head polish "I am not happy with that number" Willis reacts to PM Luxon's dire new poll
Numbers Willis is happy with:
Most unemployed since 2015
30,000 people fleeing the country
Billions wasted on cancelled projects
Fat landlord tax cut paid for by ripping off women's pay equity
THE ACTUAL FUCK
We produce enough food in NZ (5.5million) to feed 45million people & we can't sell cheap butter here, so we have to buy American butter from monoculture grain fed cows housed in sheds, then throw on the carbon footprint
Not one single thing about this is right
Weβre in the D*List today, talking about particularly accessible events at the Festival thedlist.co.nz/newsfeed/an-...
In 2022 a group of us (experts) tried to explain to the joint security group that extreme misogyny was the fastest growing form of violent extremism www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...
I have found TENS machines to be surprisingly helpful for managing pain.
1.) NZ women earn $900,000 less than men in their lifetimes - the NZ Government just made closing that gap harder
2.) Home ownership is predicated on patriarchal norms e.g. single women are seen as a risk by men I mean banks
3.) Cultural misogyny - this story is reported often and nothing changes
She never lived to see this moment, but itβs worth remembering that none of this would have happened without Virginia Giuffre.
She had the courage to speak out against power and privilege when it was just her word against Andrewβs.
Thanks to her, justice & accountability may finally have its day.
I wish I knew the perfect time to go to A&E to minimise the wait time. Anyone got any insights? So wild that when you are in pain you have to figure if you are up to waiting hours in those uncomfortable chairs.
The bit I don't get about the current hypercapitalist bubble is that eventually if 99% of the wealth is concentrated in a couple hundred unfathomably rich people no one will be able to buy any of their shit. The economy is people, preferably people with disposable income. Not fukn spreadsheets.
Iβm sure Newstalk ZB/talkback callers have been going on about it as my Dad was ranting about it the other day too.
Such disgusting behaviour towards Tamatha.
WOW π€―
The number of times a State of Emergency has been declared this year in New Zealand ALREADY matches the 2025 total.
Itβs February.
This is what the Climate Crisis looks like.οΏΌ
