I'm not falling for that again!π
It is! The Deceptive Sallow is a more yellow-green with cream-colored markings!
π
I had high hopes lol - but failed at my run at it!
Like something out of a Faerie Tale!

Today's #BirdofTheDay them is Corvids. Here are my favorite corvids, ravens!
The front half of a gray-backed bird with a gray top knot, white underbody, and rust-colored under its wings is perched on the cam feeder facing away from the camera and looking to its right while holding a large mealworm in its beak.
Look ma! I have a big, giant mealworm. ~ this titmouse, probably. πͺΆ #TitmouseTuesday #BackyardBirds

One more (deadlines, dang it) because who can resist an ab fab Feralia februalis Sallow Moth?
(no one, the answer is no one!)

macro photo of a small geometrid moth on a blue-gray wooden deck. the moth is mottled black with a row of rusty orange splotches across their upper wings.
Time to get the Macro Muscles back into shape (oh believe me - it's a whole thing!)
Practicing with the amazing flexible twin flash @jencross.bsky.social gave me because my off camera flash muscles literally atrophied from my broken humerus in '19 π
Genus Eupithecia moth

A Blue Jay with their back to the camera on a branch surrounded by red berries. There is snow on the branches. The bird is blue with blue, white and black on the ends of the wings. The tail feathers are blue with thin black lines.

A Red-breasted Nuthatch on a rock in a round green water bowl. The bird has a reddish-brown chest, gray wings and a black and white striped face. The bird's head is tilted back and the eye is closed. There is a tree trunk and a blue and white rope in the background.

My dog, Monte, a black chihuahua mix with white on his toes, belly, and muzzle.
Monte says seize the day.
Amazing idea, and that name! Bravo! π§ͺ
Three very bright ribbons of green light swirl in the night sky over a round yurt surrounded by a wooden deck. The silhouetted spires of spruce trees rise up around the snow-covered yurt and stand against the bright green lights.
Each night of our aurora tours in Churchill is spent in a different location. This yurt just inside the treeline is one of my favourite places. We had a spectacular show there the other night. #aurora #northernlights

Honestly, I am absolutely disgusted by academics suggesting that AI can do the reading and writing for you. At a certain point, what you're bragging about is fraud. And in a broader sense, what you're contributing to is the erosion of knowledge and the destruction of trust in academic publishing.
California Scrub-jay on a sign
Y'all love a blue bird, and I'm particularly fond of birds on signs. This handsome California Scrub-jay ticks both boxes as it oversees the restoration at Coffee Lake Creek Wetlands, Clackamas County, Oregon this afternoon. #birding
A royal blue bird with a white face, black necklace, light gray chest and sides, and white underparts clings to the right side of a thin vertical branch looking directly into the camera in flat lighting against a mottled gray background. Its blue crest is somewhat slicked back and its chest feathers are puffed up against the cold weather giving it a belligerent look.
βHonestly, you are unbelievable! Posting my pictures for all the world to see, and yet I get no peanuts in return!β
Blue Jay with an inflated sense of how many people actually see these.

Mostly black songbird with flecks of rusty brown and iridescence. Quite a bit of brown on the face. Eyes are yellow.
Another Rusty Blackbird shot from yesterday morning along the Grand River in Ionia County, Michigan.
