And then I walk up this morning remembering the _absolutely perfect_ (fiction) book for an LGBTQ workplace book club - great for discussions - and I believe the author lived in the PNW at some point?

Federal judge continues to restrict agents’ use of tear gas on protesters at Portland ICE facility β€’ Oregon Capital Chronicle U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon ordered the restrictions as part of a lawsuit brought by protesters and freelance journalists.

A federal judge on Monday ordered officers at Portland’s ICE facility to continue restricting use of tear gas and less-lethal munitions against non-violent protesters. It's the second ruling in less than a week that has limited their use of chemical agents. oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2026/03/09/f...

a badly placed ad section on a website. The website content says to β€œCheck out the gallery below …” to see petrified dinosaurs, and directly below is a store ad that shows how two modern day human babies, one in green clothing and the other in pink clothing. This bluesky person has added two red arrows to connect the sentence to the imagery.

I have little patience for learned helplessness and absolution-seeking. Our founding document opens with "We The People."

Either we, the collective citizenry, have power or we don't. This ain't Schrodinger's democracy.

We have power. It's incumbent upon us all to seize it.

Many hands=light work!

I trust no one who wants you to call them by their first name yet also insists you preface that implied friendliness with their β€œhard-earned / smarty-pants” title.

I never clocked how much Judge winks at other people till tonight. They showed so many slo-mo winks.

Never have I ever been compelled to wink at someone.

If you're at the airport and Kristi Noem is doing the ominous little message from the TSA screens, you no longer have to do anything she says. Leave your laptop in the case, whatever.

For the first time, we now know how many Black-owned bookstores exist in the U.S. The National Association of Black Bookstores has released the β€œfirst comprehensive national report” on the state of America’s Black-owned bookstores.

There has never been an official, comprehensive record of Black-owned bookstores across the United States β€” until now

a dark gray cat wrapped in a blue, red, yellow, white blanket next to a woman’s hand with plaid nail polish who’s holding a mug with the words β€œI’ve got 99 problems and white heteronormative patriarchy is basically all of them.” And a red chair is in mid ground.

This thread on Alito's outrageously misrepresentation of the facts in the NY voting rights case is so damning. Alito's account was misleading to the point of falsity. And there's nothing anybody can do about it. He gets to toss around bogus claims without any consequence.
