Spot on.
A few quotes from Carter on international affairs. On US's role in the world:
"I would like to see our country be the champion of human rights and every American embassy looked upon as a haven for anyone who suffers from human rights abuse. I'd like our country to be the most generous on Earth."
A round up of good news stories from 2024
Iβm signing off the year with a look back at all the things that went right in 2024. Because plenty did. From βmind blowingβ medical advances to tumbling renewables records, here are the good news stories you may have missed in the mainstream media www.positive.news/society/what...
Thanks Daniel, that's lovely of you to say so. It's a great people power story isn't it. Let's hope to see more of that.
Delighted that my latest piece for @inews.co.uk is the βmost popularβ yarn on the site. Itβs a people power story about the frustrated West Country commuters who are taking on rail giants to run trains for themselves:

I had a surprisingly good time with some plane-spotters last weekend when I could have been at home eating eggs in my dressing gown. I wrote about the preconception-shattering experience - and the eccentrics I met at #Heathrow - here: www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/news/...

Hey Denise. That sounds interesting. It's worth pitching to lucy@positive.news. Cc me in gavin@positive.news
Nice one. Read it in the mag and really enjoyed it.
Great stuff. I'm glad you've managed to shoehorn that in! I hope the book flies.
Great stuff, man. Really want to go. Though I'll never look at starlings in the same way after reading Beasts of England (a genius book, by the way)!
Definitely. There's a huge negativity bias in the mainstream news.
The same trend is happening in the US. Americans think their economy is tanking, too, when the opposite is true. Surely it's a symptom of 24/7 news culture, online misinformation and social media moral panics. We're doomed unless we clean up our polluted information ecosystem.
Joyous.
I didnβt vote for #Starmer, but Muskβs meddling in our affairs makes me more likely to support the PM, not less. Why doesn't he try running a poll to see how many Americans would like a re-run of the election?
That's spectacular, mate. What are they? Starlings?
Elon Must retweeting news of the election petition passing 1M with "The people of Britain have had enough of a tyrannical police state"
Elon Musk doesn't seem to have grasped the population size of the UK.

That's a stunner.

βThis is a watershed event in the history of international justice. The ICC has never, in over 21 years, indicted a pro-Western official. Indeed, no international court since World War II has done so."

Delighted to get a splash in The i Paper this weekend about 'sponge cities'. Places like #Rotterdam (and, closer to home, #Mansfield) are embracing nature-based architecture to fend off flooding. It not only looks pretty but makes us feel better, too. inews.co.uk/news/world/s...
Great stuff. It's made such a difference around our way.
