π€― That is NOT pro bono work! It is like a punch in the gut when I hear this shit called pro bono.
Willkie, Skadden, Paul Weiss, et al. have no idea what genuine pro bono legal services areβhundreds of millions of dollars in "pro bono" for people that can afford to hire lawyers.
Pro bono, my ass. These firms don't know real pro bono work. Just imagine what real legal work for the poor could be done with $100 million...
Big Law needs to grow some & stop settling with the administration! Pro bono is not pro bono if you do it for people who can afford to hire an attorney. $100 million in pro bono legal services would make a massive difference in the lives of low-income people. Shame on Willkie, Skadden, Paul Weiss.
Park Service deletes trans references on Stonewall Inn monument page. Trying to rewrite history again.
ABA It has been three weeks since Inauguration Day. Most Americans recognize that newly elected leaders bring change. That is expected. But most Americans also expect that changes will take place in accordance with the rule of law and in an orderly manner that respects the lives of affected individuals and the work they have been asked to perform. Instead, we see wide-scale affronts to the rule of law itself, such as attacks on constitutionally protected birthright citizenship, the dismantling of USAID and the attempts to criminalize those who support lawful programs to eliminate bias and enhance diversity. We have seen attempts at wholesale dismantling of departments and entities created by Congress without seeking the required congressional approval to change the law. There are efforts to dismiss employees with little regard for the law and protections they merit, and social media announcements that disparage and appear to be motivated by a desire to inflame without any stated factual basis. This is chaotic. It may appeal to a few. But it is wrong. And most Americans recognize it is wrong. It is also contrary to the rule of law. The American Bar Association supports the rule of law. That means holding governments, including our own, accountable under law. We stand for a legal process that is orderly and fair. We have consistently urged the administrations of both parties to adhere to the rule of law. We stand in that familiar place again today. And we do not stand alone. Our courts stand for the rule of law as well.
Someone at the American Bar Association ate their Wheaties this morning.
I know what we should call this movie
NEW: The interim U.S. attorney in Washington put his name to a motion dismissing Jan. 6 charges against a person he represented as a defense lawyer, likely violating a swath of conflict rules. "You can't do that," one ethics expert told us.

This is so fucked up. He wants children to work to pay for their own school lunches? Why did we not re-elect Casey??
He wants children to have to work for their food? Children! WTAF???
NEW: Appropriations democrats sound the alarm bells on the impoundment crisis trump created when he blocked congressionally appropriated money.
Democrats warned that Trumpβs latest order could harm programs used by millions of Americans, including early childhood programs, and food and rent assistance.
Not just foreign aid: ALL federal aid. And clearly from the language used this garbage isn't coming from Trump. This smells like Stephen Miller and Heritage/Project 2025. And it's going to whollup Trump voters, who mainly live in impoverished red, taker states, hard. www.politico.com/news/2025/01...
This is a nightmare. How can you stop Congressional authorized payments with no notice?

It's day 2 and we're already on track for some of the worst outcomes:

Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Iβve had my share fair share of public speaking accidents, far too many to number, and far more than I care to admit.
But Iβve never accidentally hailed Hitler.
No one accidentally does that..
You do that on purpose, every damn time.
