But time & time again, I’m put in a situation where I’m told I’m lesser than for doing. As a community, I think we forget that this isn’t easy & I watch as cc folks harass each other for not being perfect - in spite of my experiences, I consider my efforts - perfect. But I don’t fit here.

My friends should not have to console me after another incident where some man has decided to mock/sneer/cough at me, or a woman decides to film me. I should be allowed to protect my body from further chronic illness or wildfire smoke!

At the end of the day, continuing to mask is hard, isolating and demoralizing. I am bullied almost every time I step outside my door. The benefits for me as an individual do not outweigh the costs.

When I notice someone who used to be such a die hard masker & covid conscious advocate, stop masking, it makes me wonder why I continue to make myself such a target by masking in all situations. I’d love to not mask anymore and can’t seem to bring myself to do it based on all the info we have. Blah

Oh I never unmasked indoors. I can’t take that risk. But so many people do.

FYI, I feel this way each time my family gets sick and it’s not covid. Which it hasn’t been since July 2024. It’s confusing and isolating. And yes, I’m glad I’m not getting colds too.

Am I extreme for still masking in all situations? My family is down with colds half the month, not covid (+life confirmed). I’m the crazy aunt for testing & their survivor bias is becoming stronger. I see drs not masking, researchers in covid not masking & I’m left wondering if I’ve been duped.

Masked in health care

Good morning. Friendly reminder from a family medicine colleague that it is still prudent to mask in all health care settings.

Pet care in my Zimi, not because the clients are here, but because the cats are sneezing. There’s always something to take into consideration with COVID.

What it hasn’t done is cause me to throw my mask in the air and β€œlive my life” to the fullest bc now I can walk again and breathe and talk at the same time. We live AND we learn, and living life to the fullest IS wearing a respirator. People will figure this out much too late.

I am LUCKY to be inching my way back to my previous baseline, which let me tell you, was extremely limiting to begin with, but I have now experienced much worse and it has fueled my devotion to wearing respirators and avoiding COVID for myself and others.

No amount of positive vibes, sunshine and depression walks can get you out of that hellscape. Prevention in the first place is the only cure I’m aware of. The steps I took to help myself heal aren’t guaranteed to work & I live in constant fear of relapse.

I WISH people would understand how debilitating & life changing Dysautonomia is & that not everyone recovers. You’re not just fatigued for a few months, your brain is painstakingly shut down and your senses are raw to the slightest stimulation.

So many factors contribute to Dysautonomia; injuries, chemicals, viruses, that it is worth the energy to keep oneself safe. This includes wearing respirators & avoiding viral infections.

Has anyone taken the Clinical Bioinformatics grad certificate from Durham College? I’d like to become more educated in the area of data science and research and thought this might be a good place to start.

The amount of influence therapists/docs have on their clients should not be taken lightly. My family doesn’t mask around me as they did before bc one of their therapists said I was anxious & needed help. Misguided opinions have consequences & this one isolated me from my family.

Let’s say this loud and clear:

Exercise is not the goal, recovery is the goal so one can exercise.
