He should be expelled from Congress for this and socially ostracized.
This overt bigotry from an elected official needs consequences.
Robert Kennedy Jr. and his allies act like they’re challenging corporate power but really they’re just instruments of it.
This was pretty obvious, but it’s one of those stories that’s still important to write up—because we should be documenting this stuff.

The guidelines are just another example of how the Trump administration’s populism is really just a handout to major industries.
HHS claims the new guidelines are a rebuke of corporate influence on science.
But experts have criticized them for departing from evidence-based recommendations.
For example, they recommend limiting intake of saturated fats in accordance with science, but red meat and dairy are high in them.

In reality, they were just cranks and bigots serving a billionaire agenda.
But on social media, they were snarky realists who saw through the lies and agendas of big government and big science.
All of this was hollow. Almost none of it was meaningfully challenged by the opposition.
A core part of the appeal was framing those positions—COVID denialism and transphobia—as opposition to an out-of-touch medical and political establishment .
Folks like Elon Musk sought to cast themselves as rational voices in a country gone insane—almost like the comedian George Carlin.
SO much of this was grease for the wheels of Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign.
Democrats largely steered clear of defending public health measures to stop the spread of COVID. They didn’t talk much about transgender folks.
And all the while, the GOP and right-wing was setting the narratives.
This is such a critical point, and it’s something I’ve tried to highlight in my reporting.
The right-wing groups and operatives who politicized COVID have also been pushing anti-trans shit. Moms for Liberty is a classic example.
It’s helped create new GOP voters/activists.

Bhattacharya loves his anti-vax pals almost as much as he loves railing against the “politicization” of science.
And he loves that almost as much as he loves blaming scientists for the loss of public trust in vaccines.
