iirc, the pixel junk series was inspired by exactly this (except, you know, 1080p) I think racers stuck to it, but the other games had scrolling

The unfortunate reality of gamedev, esp live service. I don’t think they ran out of money, it just didn’t make sense for the founders to keep pouring money into Highguard. Games are so hit-driven and momentum based that its very very unlikely Highguard would pick up after its slow start
