Immediately following the meeting Jonathan Juarez was elected chapter president and Rae McNish was elected chapter secretary/treasurer. Congratulations to the new officers! (5/5)
Two workshops were also held, one on using R to analyze bioassessment data led by Ryan Peek and other on dytiscid taxonomy led by Doug Post. The meeting was supported by generous contributions from Rhithron, Aquatic Bioassay, Watercourse Engineering, and Naiad Biological Consulting (4/5).
Caitlin Boise delivered the keynote presentation on restoration of the Klamath River after dam removals. There were also sessions focused on applying bioassessments to estuaries, urban rivers, and non-perennial streams, as well as a session on environmental DNA (3/5).
The meeting held at the CalEPA (@californiaepa.bsky.social) building had over 150 attendees, 15 talks, 3 student lightning talks, and 15 posters. The chapter awarded 9 travel grants to support students attending the meeting (2/5).
