It sucked me in right from the first chapter! Iβm reading it as thesis research right now
Made a bookmark of Savitri Edwards, Founder and First Director of the Federation of Earth Societies

Hmm, unsure if it classifies as a βmysteryβ but Iβm reading βMidnight in Chernobylβ and itβs a fascinating look into the disaster that took place!
Welp Iβve just seen the argument βautistic people arenβt sophisticated enough to be sexual predators therefore Neil Gaiman is innocentβ which is a fun combo of ableism and apologia
I donβt need to tell people that thatβs fundamentally wrong, right?
Watched βIron Lungβ on Sat with the fiance and friends
10/10 movie imho
The book cover for The Sarcophagus of Lamia Book 1, by Rebecca E Reyes The picture is of an ethereal blonde woman's resting face, laying back upon red velvet. She has a silver implant in her hair. In front of her is a round, gothic window with gold filigree. Leaves, faces and fish are in the filigree's design. Art by Elora Ladd
The mission is to get a perfectly preserved cadaver with a mysterious implant back to her home world, but will the reward be worth it?

Getting to 90 is a feat, especially since sheβs sick, so they also go all out and make it a party.
As for the question: in my thesis, the celebration is special itself. Itβs one of the few things people and society remembered from before the nuclear war and fallout.
Savitri, celebrating her 90th at the beginning of the thesis, is presented with something βusefulβ, which for her is a cane.
Happy Birthday!
Love getting stuff off thriftbooks but finding something I like under $5 is proving challenging. Any reccβs from my fellow readers? Specifically looking for some cool post-apocalypse or sci fi
I wrote 771 words of my thesis! π€
Drop an alien thatβs not from Star Wars or Star Trek
that moment when itβs 4am and youβre wide awake but the people you talk to are asleep so you cannot babble cohesively about the upcoming thesis
I want to give up on this one class so bad but that means retaking it and pushing my graduation back again and ugh
No new pictures
Where are you at mentally
About the author and their books: (There is a portrait of me with anime blush lines, a happy yellow sun) My name is Rebecca E. Reyes and I am an author, artist, parent, and I have a great sense of humor, especially in regards to my autism in my mid 30's. This portrait doesn't set the tone in my books, but it does reflect me when I feel cute (2 years ago). Right now I have my acne from when I was 15... All four of my books in both my book series with descriptions. --- The Sarcophagus of Lamia The Sarcophagus of Lamia Book 1 has a blonde woman in a red velvet lined escape pod, with a silver implant in her hair. The Sarcophagus of Lamia Book 2: Soul Survivor, has a red power core (a glowing orb) surrounded by filigree. The series description is: Deep space cyberpunk thriller novelettes with beautiful adaptations of famous monsters in a bleak, caste ruled setting. We follow the skeleton crew of the lab ship, Magpie, as they hit hard times and brush with corporate oligarchies' law enforcement. They take odd jobs and survive gruesome encounters, but they do it together! --- Sigils Sigils of Malice's cover has a magical blue beetle walking on a machine powered by a sparking crystal. Sigils of Blight's cover is of a lantern with a blue fire in the jungle. The series description is: Science fantasy thriller novels within a gilded theocrasy, wearing 1910's pseudo-cyberpunk glitz. "Those are words." - My Husband Thalia Clayton, an uncouth crossdressing showgirl, without magic, tries to protect her family from powers above her head. Unfortunately, everyone she loves is mixed in with conspiracies. After many reluctant partnerships and tested loyalties, it's a good thing she knows many necromancers and priests. Getting out alive may not be an option.

Screenshot from the Contact Us page for rebeccareyeswriting.com saying: As of January 1, 2026 I deleted my Twitter/X account. I will never touch that horrid website again. If you see anyone claiming to be Rebecca Ladd or Rebecca Reyes using my work on Twitter/X, know that they are bots or grifters and should be avoided.
The Contact Us page on my website has been updated.
I'm no famous author by any means, but that does not stop bots and grifters on Twitter, so I felt the need to make a quick warning about closing my Twitter account.
Very political intrigue heavy, hopefully low/no romance. Could use more Horse Companion imo. My fiance is pretty good about picking for me so I trust in her. Itβs very good so far!
One of the POVβs, and not one I expected, is in a βYouβ format. Iβm not usually a fan but honestly? Iβm still engaged and find the difference between her and Imelda/Adrianβs POV to be a really interesting and intriguing decision
Three POVS, two are women and one man. Each in differing social classes and political leanings meeting in a dangerous Empire-wide Race of Phoenix Horses (which are cool af btw). Currently rooting for Imelda.
Iβve been doing a lot of Very Serious Reading lately for my studies and wanted a break with Fun Reading. Fiance gifted it for xmas (along with a copy of Seabiscuit) and Iβm 50 pages in under an hour. Very interesting premise and mix of storylines so far!
Truly, one of the major sisphyean tasks
Itβs so weird, bc ppl on twit claim bsky is dead and Iβm ??? Itβs a new platform, it needs time to grow!
And half the βcomplaintsβ about bsky are ppl not understanding how curation works π
I just saw someone yell βtheyβre just using it to generate ideas!β
And
I hate to say it
But if you work in the ART DEPARTMENT and you need a death machine stuffed with your colleaguesβ work to give you ideas
Quit.

AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone
- tech is now more expensive
- you cannot trust most media of reality anymore
- programs barely function
- energy prices
- literal psychosis
- your voice can be literally stolen for evil
- more spyware
but hey, you can avoid paying an artist.
Writers who use genAI for illustrations are class traitors. We all have to fight this beast TOGETHER. We are not just trying to save SOME of our livelihoods.
Orwell's vision of our terrible future was that world - the world in which books are banned or burned. Yet it is not the most terrifying world I can think of. I think instead of Huxley [...] I think of his Brave New World. His vision was the more terrible, especially now because it appears to be rapidly coming true, whereas the world of 1984 did not. What is Huxley's horrific vision? It is a world where there is no need for books to be banned, because no one can be bothered to read one. β Marcus Sedgwick, The Monsters We Deserve
