The rusted remains of a sounding rocket sits in a circle of bare ground on the tundra when it has rested for decades after falling out of the atmosphere.
Did you know that Churchill was a centre of aurora research? From 1956 to 1986, the Churchill Rocket Range operated sporadically, sending sounding rockets into the ionosphere before they crashed to Earth with their payloads of data. The buildings are still there along with many rocket remains.

The last time the Patriots and Seahawks were in the Super Bowl, I was at Christian’s Pub in St. John’s. It ended with a play we’re still talking about today. Today, I’m by myself at home in Churchill taking it in.
Prediction: Patriots with another wild play to finish it off.

I have to say, in this world of ugly, ugly rhetoric: it is so refreshing to see Carney and Harper treat each other with grace, levity, and respect. We’ve been without this level of civility for what seems like forever, and it honestly feels like a full breath of fresh air. These aren’t great times.
This year’s Royal Rumble gets a C- from me. Highlight was Mr. Iguana.
Beautiful last day of January here in Churchill; -10°C with some light snow falling. After a brunch together at the Ptarmigan, me, the Days on Land crew and friends will be shooting for our next music video.

Kitty got to see a new house, and did a bunch of laps around the place taking in all the smells. Apparently she hasn’t been out of Churchill in some time. She can’t get enough of looking out the window.
A wonderful 16 days off for Christmas break, and ready to go back to work yesterday when our cat gave us a scare where we felt it necessary for me to take her to the vet in Winnipeg. Kitty is ok, and I had a nice evening with @dridgley.bsky.social and Danny watching Raw. 🎄 👍🏻
