And then my other main muscle set that i struggle with turning on is my glutes. My hamstrings and hip flexors like to do Too Much, instead of my glutes turning on.

Learning that even motions like lifting my arms to wash my hair is supposed to involve low-level core activation has been mind blowing. One of the main times I've worked my core activation routine into my life is right before showering and it helps my back muscles feel less fatigued afterwards.

In the months immediately after my surgery, my back had a huuuge flare and we discovered that my core muscles basically weren't doing anything since my surgery and so my back muscles had been overconpensating. A year later now and i still have to do my little routine to turn my core muscles on.

Getting my core muscles to turn on is like half of my home pt stuff currently, i always had trouble with it but it's been especially difficult since my gallbladder removal (Nov 2024). I've had to really reckon with the difficulties cause by scar tissue and damaged fascia at the incision sites.
