OK. I was wrong. Turns out that the water pipes in Gaza have mostly been bombed+ need electricity to work (w pumps). Virtually no potable water. Netanyahu is a genocidaire.

x user itranslate123 posts: "I am from Gaza and I am telling you this is a JOKE. Israel destroyed many water pipes. ALso, without electricity we can NOT turn on the water pumps. Water in Gaza does not simply run into the taps. We have to fill water tanks about twice a week." Below this, the tweet quoted says that Israel officials confirm turning on the water supply to southern Gaza.
someone from Gaza saying that's pointless becuase they need electricity to distribute water: twitter.com/itranslate12...

Over the past week Israeli jets have conducted around-the-clock bombing of non-military targets in Gaza City. Apartment buildings, hospitals, and mosques were torn apart, with no prior warning and no effort to minimize civilian casualties.
This could be my last report from Gaza
Keep my stories alive so that you keep me alive. Remember that the world that pretended to be the savior of humanity participated in killing it.
Same reports from aid organisations with presence in Gaza, a.o. Doctors without Borders / MSF
The huge escalation in Islamophobia over the last week is deadly. This is so fucking devastating.

Water runs out at UN shelters in Gaza. Medics fear for patients as Israeli ground offensive looms www.ctvnews.ca/world/water-...
I am ashamed at the work of Canadian journalism. We have journalists who are promoting misinformation to build the case for Israeli aggression which may wipe out entire generation of Palestinians. We have editors and executives gleefully pushing genocide of a landless people.
Itβs depraved
Palestinians say Israelβs announcement of renewing water supply to southern Gaza is a βpublicity stunt,β as many water pipes were damaged in the Israeli shelling. Also, without electricity, water pumps to fill the tanks are not working.
The Institute for Palestine Studies has been translating these messages so that the world can see the humanity buried under the rubble and the spirit of resistance of Palestinians.
To help maximize their reach, we're republishing them here.

We had a small vigil for Palestine tonight in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. Just some friends and their friends. We held space for grief and demanded an end to the bombing, the siege of Gaza, and Israeli apartheid.
(Non-Palestinian) Christian friends: really not the time to center yourselves, friends. Especially not in threads about the suffering or oppression of not-you.
Really not.
Fuck Your Lecture on Craft, My People Are Dying BY NOOR HINDI Colonizers write about flowers. I tell you about children throwing rocks at Israeli tanks seconds before becoming daisies. I want to be like those poets who care about the moon. Palestinians don't see the moon from jail cells and prisons. It's so beautiful, the moon. They're so beautiful, the flowers. I pick flowers for my dead father when I'm sad. He watches Al Jazeera all day. I wish Jessica would stop texting me Happy Ramadan. I know I'm American because when I walk into a room something dies. Metaphors about death are for poets who think ghosts care about sound. When I die, I promise to haunt you forever. One day, I'll write about the flowers like we own them.

A BBC news tweet that reads: More than 500 people have died in Gaza after Israel launched massive retaliatory air strikes, according to Gazaβs health ministry. More than 700 people have been killed in Israel since Hamas launched its attacks on Saturday
Another day, another media outlet, another headline, the same fucked up framing.
Only Israelis are killed, Palestinians in Gaza just die.

βIt's actually shocking how close I think a lot of people are to being [homeless], but don't feel that way because you've always been able to pay your rent. As soon as you stop being able to do that, you get into a cycle where it becomes harder and harder to get back to that place.β

for many, tomorrow is a solemn day. a day of remembrance. it is not appropriate to wish someone a happy orange shirt day. it is not Indigenous peoples' responsibility to educate or share our pain for settler learning. 2/
settlers can do their work by educating themselves on the colonial history of boarding schools, reading the federal Indian Boarding School Initiative Investigative Report here: www.bia.gov/sites/defaul... and reflecting on how you are reconciling this abhorrent history in your own life. 3/
