Ha, yes, definitely had that feeling about it - not a million miles removed from Galton and Simpson though, who have already snaffled the idea of an old style recycling sitcom!
"Have you been mis-sold a progressive government. Haven't had the "change" you were promised? Here at Caerphilly, Gorton, and Kilbride we specialise in showing Labour the door. Call now for a free, no obligation consultation. No win, no fee."
There's no suggestion of wrongdoing by Reid, of course, & MPs should not be judged by their spouses but if today's events were to lead to a by-election in East Kilbride and Strathaven, and further pain for Starmer it would be ironic as Caerphilly, Gorton & Kilbride sounds like a firm of Solicitors.

Keir Starmer should condemn Trumpβs illegal action in Venezuela.
Maduro is a brutal and illegitimate dictator, but unlawful attacks like this make us all less safe.
Trump is giving a green light to the likes of Putin and Xi to attack other countries with impunity.
Yeah, have caught up on the 'gram since this. Glad a diagnosis (or indicator of) was achieved in the end.
Hope they've been seen and it's not anything too serious.
We've had an excellent morning at Kickstart, with training including on community campaigning and writing direct mail, and panel discussions explaining how we've been beating Reform across the country!
^^^this - the company was split - the High Street shops were sold, and rebranded. The bit with the problem is continuing operation focused on rail station and airport locations.
*Men's *Football World Cup, obvs.
Happy birthday to me: Scotland have made it to the World Cup...
...hopefully this time we'll not come home too soon.

I'm a member, although an armchair one. They do do some campaigning work, and have e.g. School Speakers and other opportunities from time to time. Locally, there's an allied association who run events and socials. Ultimately, though, I joined to support their work numerically and financially.
np!
By way of additional credentials - I'm on Plus' list, and I was responsible for this: www.libdemvoice.org/70935-70935....
@pruebray.bsky.social is very articulate in her rage and 100% right. The party needs to rethink.
Annoyingly this has gone awol on the party's website... hopefully can be rectified tout suite before ballots open.
One for my Lib Dem friends and followers - I'm standing for Federal Council in the internal elections - ballots due to land tomorrow.
Manifesto below, please consider a first/high preference
Eek.
I think they're promising action in around six months time...
*Stefan Quaqarone, surely!
To quote Harry Willcock:

...isn't in power - he has shifted the parameters of the debate through force of personality, a compliant and/or complicit and/or compromised media, and a government unable/unwilling to stand up to him.
To be clear, I would like to see my own party do more to stand up on these fronts too...
It is somewhat clichΓ©d to quote the Martin NiemΓΆller poem - First They Came For... - especially given its immediate context when written, but this is how regressive authoritarian actors work: normalise the demonisation of one group and move on to the next.
It doesn't even matter that Farage...
...aided and abetted by Labour ceding ground on the terms of the debate...
...this should also be a warning to LGB people - we are next in line for those challenging the rights of trans people, along with reproductive rights for cis women, and anyone else with a womb.
The speed with which Farage has moved from stoking up animus towards asylum seekers to targeting already settled migrants is staggering.
To be clear, this was always the next step in this front in his culture war, but we've arrived here much quicker than anticipated...

They held one of the Durham ones, I think.
Been working through various Glasto sets over the past month - don't think they're available for much longer, so really pleased I opted to finally watch Kae Tempest's set tonight.
I saw him in 2019 at Bluedot, but the Glasto set was excellent -catchvit if you can.
2000 years ago: the Romans would let an aqueduct destroy the Gardon Valley. We need clean water, but at what cost?
The Salt Path is on my list of books to read - definitely will be reading it with a different lens now than I might otherwise have done.
