Hopping in to say Iβm still writing and still getting rejection letters (lol). Just need a break from socials for a bit
Iβm so behind on the show but tbh, itβs tough to watch now because, well, everything
Spent this morning working on my query letter. Definitely think the new one is an improvement over the prior version I sent out.
My big struggle right now is coming up with comps to include. I would prefer to leave them out, but the general consensus is that agents like to see them. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Tonight, Iβll be watching The Thing (1986). Iβve never seen it before but have heard soo many good things

Hahah thank you! One down, hopefully under 100 to go π
Officially got my first rejection email from an agent over the weekend π
It really do.
And thank you!
...you just gave me so many ideas, and not JUST medieval San Francisco
a fantasy map showing fragmented land masses and a scroll with the word Elderaine on it
Couldn't get the words flowing today, so instead, I finally started the map of my fantasy world.

i think it depends on how much foreshadowing was done throughout the book, as well as what the cover art/title convey.
I spend much of the early process just thinking about things and taking notes as I lay in bed each night. I then move those into a GDoc and use that as a VERY rough outline.
I've also found that once I start actually writing, theme-appropriate ambient music helps get the creative juices flowing.
Right there with you, Joseph!
Iβll check that link out tonight, thank you!
So, question for those in writing groups -how did you find said groups?
I know Discord is great for this, but unless it's a brand new one, it feels weird hopping into convos with people who don't know you.

Oh no, I'm very sorry to hear that.
15 novels is quite the accomplishment and a TV series is SO exciting!
Read the first handful of chapters of the preview. I love the premise!
That's awesome! Care to link? Would love to check out some of your work.
I'm currently in query hell for my completed book, but have started researching self-publishing. Have you enjoyed the process?
In writing news, I've knocked out 5k words on my fun little fantasy novella. I'm going to be offering it for free when it is finished.
It's a silly story about a wizard, but I want to use it as an intro into a larger novel/series/whatever I've been plotting and thinking about for nearly three years
That's a really good point about the name... I have the deactivation window still, I'm going to roll that idea round a bit and may end up doing that, as well.
Well, it's done. Deactivated my Twitter and one of my Instagram accounts (kept a personal FB/Insta for the time being as I need to connect to my work's socials)
A combined 10k connections gone with a snap. It's a bit sad. I had made some great friends, but:
And thank YOU for the follow back! The writing is going...fine haha and yourself?
I have a full plate of work today, so not much writing getting done until later tonight.
Even so, I have a Gdoc pulled up where I'm dropping random ideas and world-building pieces to reference later. It's fun building a fantasy world, but there's SO MUCH TO IT.

this isnβt writing related, but just thought this looked neat

Writing today is proving difficult. For one, *waves vaguely at the state of the US*
And two, I'm trying to stray from the book currently being pitched and focus on the WIP, but it's tough. My low-end word count keeps pulling me back in. :/
