"I don't know what weapons the next war will be fought with, but the one after that will be with sticks."
"Because of nukes, right?"
"No, because we decided logistics was woke."
The image features Dundun. He is a majestically green, ethereal rat, as denoted by his appropriately-sized crown. Text at the top of the screen reads, "Your timeline has been blessed by Dundun, Loa of Abundance," and continues at the bottom of the screen, "Share with someone who could use some abundance."

Only tangentially related, but NOTHING has broken me as beautifully as reading DEATH welcome Terry (posted on twitter) I was a sobbing mess at work

I started ordering "iced latte no ice" when I was working at a bookstore. I'd buy a latte at the cafe next door, have a few sips, set it down to do stuff, and by the time I remembered I had coffee, it had 4" of water at the top and was room temperature.
Sometimes you just accept fate.
Ooo! New book you say π

Let's see if bluesky has the juice these days...
Back on the heyday of old twitter, if we were having a slow Patreon month, I could do a few tweets reminding people that we have bonus episodes! and a discord server! and keeping the show ad-free!
Will it work again here to bump up a low month?

Just a nudge from your friendly neighborhood podcast:
Could you perhaps take a few minutes to complete our audience survey?
Thanks in advance! π
Heinous. We're becoming a collective where some states are antithetical to thriving and some still permit it (or hopefully actively support it)
this is effectively giving the go-ahead to state-sponsored conversion therapy, so... that's fine
Another day, another class action to join
Fwiw, I've always understood Douglas Adams' statement in the same way you do
A paved road has houses and yards on either side with lawns covered in snow. Fog obscures the road and trees several hundred feet in the distance where, unseen, the road enters a forested section.
It's foggy this morning. The road continues into a forested section - fortunately it's morning, not Silent Hill night time.
This is so scary. I grew up in evangelical Christianity, but back then, this would have meant "We see Christ in the least of us and should love and care for them as we love Christ and He loves us".
But the replies show that now this means "To be Christ-like is to perpetuate atrocities"
This is my Minnesota. My Twin Cities. This is the power that broke an armed occupation.
Yes, ICE is still here. CBP is still here. They are better-disguised and still kidnapping people.
But THIS is the force that broke Bovino's assault.

New Past Lives: Why Slavery Matters. Our final episode of the first season looks back at why it's essential to understand the sheer scope of slavery, how fragile the idea of human value really is, and why we can never go back. www.pod.link/1852618120/e...
I liked one of the side quests there for how it subverted my expectations
My deepest condolences to your household (human and furred alike)
Side image of a frog clinging to a grass stalk above floating vegetation in dark water. The frog faces the camera, exposing its white belly and light blue limbs, fingers and toes. The head is lime green, and the bulging eyes are yellow.
Just a few days left in Peru. I love taking the skiff out at night and looking for frogs in the quiet backwaters. One of my favorites, an Orinoco Lime Treefrog (Sphaenorhynchus lacteus). #herps #frogs #NaturePhotography πΏ

Very important Crash Course series
If only there had been some sort of previous, I dunno, "tanker war" in the region that might have warned us about this?
Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Unfortunately those who do remember it are apparently doomed to watch the nobs in the first cohort do it even after the warningβ¦
Apparently you can opt out if you email them. π

βInstead of producing what looks like a generic critique from a nameless LLM,β Wired reported last week, Expert Review βlists a number of real academics and authors available to weigh in on your text. To be clear: Those people have nothing to do with this process.βπ€¬
So apparently grammarly stole my fuckin identity
