I saw a couple other beat writers in the conference have the same complaints.

Simmons outplays him every game and is never given a start. Unfortunately in this era that leaves open to possibility he transfers if he thinks he isn’t getting what he’s earned.

Oden starting the game and the 2nd half is a travesty Dutcher should have to answer for.

I think that was the best outcome for us if we hope to get an at large bid. As far as winning the conference outright I think we would’ve preferred a New Mexico win.

Just shows that they had a bogus argument. It was never about competitive balance, it was about getting extra games for the bottom of the league who struggle to fill their non-conference schedule without resorting to a lot of buy games.

What are your thoughts on Dutcher’s retention strategy? Should it be more cutthroat? Players see their commitment as 1 year should he view it the same as his commitment and cut guys he views as underperforming or not improving enough?

New Mexico loses tonight and we Utah St and New Mexico over the next week and a shared title enters the realm of possibility.

Aztecs meet Nevada tonight as 3 point underdogs. Huge game for the Aztecs after a couple down performances have put them on the tournament bubble. Nevada is coming off a blowout loss at Utah State.

Aztecs crush over Cal 71-50 after facing numerous travel delays into San Jose and getting into town just a few hours before the game. Impressive rebounding for then Aztecs, a huge improvement since their last game. Next up is a big home conference game against Utah St on Saturday.

From the way the trainer was looking at him and the way he was stretching it looked like something with his hip.

He was walking gingerly after a hard fall and stood behind the bench for the rest of the game (aside from starting the 2nd half and being immediately subbed out). If he was just tired I would’ve expected him to sit on the bench with his teammates. Maybe gamesmanship by Dutcher?

Magoon Gwath has a big impact in his first Mountain West Conference game with 25 pts and 10 reb as the Aztecs down Fresno St 84-62 on the road. SDSU has a showdown with USD at home on Saturday.

After a great week at the Players Era Tournament, SDSU slots in at #24 in this week’s AP poll.

I think Oregon falls between 10-15 and we are between 20-25.

Oregon beats #9 Alabama 83-81 to win the Players Era Tournament. The Power side (SDSU’s side) of the tournament won all 4 games against the Impact side on the final day. Aztecs finish 3rd & earn $1.15 mil in NIL funds. With 3 OT games and high level play made this most exciting Thanksgiving tourney.

Aztecs pull out a 73-70 thriller in OT to beat #6 Houston. Aztecs have a big 2nd half come back to finish the tournament in 3rd place and get 2 Quad 1 wins that will certainly help our case come March. Looks like the Mountain West will run through San Diego once again.

It was during the offseason. We just didn’t have the NIL to get another good one.
