Sunday before last, I drove between Calgary, Okotoks & Bragg Creek. I was surprised & dismayed. There were 7 places along the road with people collecting signatures.
Warm sunny days work for them.
They're always surprised to hear me tell them they are a damaging disgrace to the province & flag.

"restoring competitiveness to Canada's energy sector" ๐ when exactly was the last time the oil and gas industry (really the only thing PP considers "energy") was not at least as profitable as other industries? I suspect you'd really need to cherry pick the time & it'll be for international reasons.

Using AI to narrate a story about how AI is sucking up the energy of the entire city of Edmonton is some bleak irony

Is the Washington Post written by teenagers trying to get a passing grade in high school social studies? Kids that couldn't make the high school debate team?
That whole... piece... it's AI quality.

TY. Fun to see this again.
Of the many, many hours of Sesame Street that I watched enthusiastically decades ago, this is probably my favorite skit and the one that comes to mind most frequently.
Personally I have not found this method to be especially successful (for catching fish). Too quiet?

Great advancement in journalism when they realize AI can pretend to be a Canadian in whatever spot they want on the day. Big cost savings when they use AI to be a "reporter on the scene" interviewing a "Canadian on the scene".
Yep, super duper *quality journalism has arrived.

Flag of Limousin France. A bunch of repeated black shapes that look like Christmas trees, each with three shapes that look like dildos at what would be the top of the tree evenly spread across a white field with a thick red border.
1589, Limousin France, the flag design committee...
"Agreed, we need something to let everyone know we are a bunch of dicks but really like spruce trees. Claude, pay attention. What are you doodling Claude? ...Qu'est-ce que c'est?... Trรจs bien Claude! Put a red ribbon on this, we are done."

Map of France showing the location of Limousin in the middle of France.
The flag and coat of arms are shown above and can be described as a bunch of tiny black Christmas trees with 3 point stars above each on a field of white surrounded by a thick red border.
They probably aren't meant to be Christmas trees and three point starts. Up close (and personal?) with the flag, the shapes making up each point of the stars look a lot like dildos. Less so on the coat of arms.
The image is from Wikipedia. The description is not from Wikipedia.
Tisk. Sloppy. She definitely knows that Limousin should be capitalized and is nowhere near the coast.

When the NDP is making a far more coherent & practical foreign policy statement than any other party in Parliament, you know the government is way off the rails. The brains running the Liberal & CPC are too mushy. They do not have the skills or wisdom to meet the moment. Canadians must demand better

I would add that (surprise!) Trump is unreliable, has no long-term plan, & DNGAF about the well-being of Iranians or anyone else. He will flip to his next headline grabbing flight of fancy on a whim.
Abandonment of principles
for Trump eviscerates credibility as surely as bombs mangle bodies.

Dog & pony townhall panels, hundreds of millions to coal companies, gas lighting propaganda videos, failed healcare re-organizations. + Lawsuits, lawsuits, lawsuits to fight... IDK, woke or something?
So much stuff to burn money on. But don't worry, they'll probably think of more ways not to help.

Of course she misrepresented the data and lied. A lie is a lie. That's who she chooses to be.
The Alberta Premier has no appreciation for ethics, rule of law, or expertise. That's why she disdains judges & judicial procedures. The judiciary upholds the world of ethics, expertise, and rule of law.

Wild that sci-fi was like "fear that machines will become so intelligent they'll take over the world" and the reality is "machines will fake being intelligent enough to tell people what they want to hear" and that's how you actually take over the world. Apparently.
