Outside the Chicago area ICE facility in Broadview this afternoon, people are gathered for what should have been a relatively uneventful press conference explaining what happened with US citizens detained by CBP on Friday.
Folks are now running down the street bc their vehicles were just towed.
Months of work and millions of dollars raised by thousands of our residents to help keep people in their homes comes down to the signature of one person. Weβre calling on Mayor Frey to sign Pause Evictions, Save Lives. This policy temporarily gives residents 30 more days to help prevent evictions.
If 176 children were slaughtered in their classrooms in Dublin, Brussels, Berlin, Tel Aviv or Texas by a foreign adversary, the world would rightfully be at a standstill.

Worst thing American politicians figured out post Vietnam was how to have war without making our civilians feel it, other than in economic aftershocks that keep us desperately focused on getting by. Thereβs zero sense we are waging war in streets of NYC. Theyβve turned war into a distant livestream.

This woman, US citizen living in Skokie, was detained at Ohare yesterday, taken to Broadview, then transferred to a detention facility in Wisconsin, now released. We know all this not because of DHS, who repeatedly denied that they even had her, but because her phone was pinging in those locations.
organizers are saying that it's especially helpful if people outside of Minnesota, maybe in a place that's not being hit that hard by ICE, can tap in!
Imagine if you single handedly had the power to delay thousands of evictions & keep families in their homes. Jacob Frey can do that by signing what Council passed yesterday. Or he can help evict thousands of people with a veto.
Let him know what you would do: www.minneapolismn.gov/government/m...
Would be amazing if we could get some non-Minnesotan neighbors plugged in here. Minnesotans have majorly overextended themselves paying their neighbor's rents and we know there is more capacity to chip in from outside the state.
