Fushimi isn’t only Fushimi Inari. 🍶🚤
If you want the quieter, more local side of Kyoto, do the Fushimi Jikkokubune Canal Cruise—a slow, beautiful ride through the sake district.

Would you add this to your Kyoto trip—history walk or food & coffee crawl? ☕️🍶
Why I love it:
・It’s a “slow walk” street—perfect for photos, especially early morning or late afternoon.
・Great as a link between Teradaya → sake breweries/canals in your Fushimi day plan.
• Time: 30–60 min
• Access: 7 min from Chushojima Station / 10 min from Fushimi-Momoyama Station
Just a few minutes from Teradaya Inn, there’s a street in Fushimi that feels like you’ve stepped into a samurai-era film set. ⚔️🏮
Ryoma Dori Shopping Street is a compact, atmospheric arcade—only 130 meters, but packed with Bakumatsu vibes: stone pavement, gas-lamp style lights

Want to feel Japan’s samurai era for real—not just read about it?
In Kyoto’s Fushimi district, Teradaya Inn is where the Bakumatsu period turns into something you can actually stand inside. ⚔️🏮
Kyoto isn’t only temples and crowds.
Spend a full day in Fushimi—a quiet “water town” where sake breweries, samurai-era history, and canals connect into one perfect walking route. 🌿🍶
✅ Quick access tip
Take the Keihan Main Line to Yodo Station (KH27), then it’s about a 10-minute walk.
⚠️ Please be respectful—this is a residential area, and drones are not allowed.

Why it’s special:
・Kawazu-zakura bloom from mid-Feb to mid-March (deep, vibrant pink + longer season).
・The blossoms reflect on the canal and the path feels surprisingly quiet—especially early.
・Best for photos: weekday mornings (7:00–9:00 AM) before the crowds arrive.
Kyoto’s cherry blossom season starts earlier than most people think. 🌸
If you want sakura without the peak-season chaos, go to Yodo Suiro (Yodo Waterway) in southern Kyoto—an incredible 1.1 km “pink tunnel” lined with ~200 Kawazu cherry trees.
When you see the iconic image of a five-storied pagoda with Mount Fuji soaring in the background, you’re looking at Arakurayama Sengen Park. But many visitors take their photo and leave, missing the profound history and spiritual heart of the location: Arakurayama Sengen Shrine.
Kamakura isn’t just temples—it’s moments. And Hasedera is packed with them. 🌿⛩️
Perched on a hillside, Hasedera Temple gives you one of the most beautiful mixes of Kamakura:

Seeing Kegon Falls in winter feels like stepping into a frozen fantasy. ❄️🌊
Nikko is famous in autumn—but in winter, the atmosphere changes completely: quiet air, fewer people, and the waterfall roaring through the cold like a scene from a movie.

Winter in Nikko isn’t complete without Lake Chuzenji. ❄️🏔️
When the temperature drops, the whole area turns quiet, crisp, and cinematic—snowy mountains, glassy water, and that “I can’t believe this is real” kind of calm.

Yes—there are wild monkeys in Nikko. 🐒❄️
And seeing them in their natural mountain environment feels completely different from a zoo.
I wrote a full guide on where you’re likely to see them, when to go, and how to stay safe 👇

Nikko’s famous Irohazaka isn’t just a road—it’s the winter drive you’ll remember. ❄️🚗
Forget the autumn crowds. In winter, the mountains turn quiet and snow-covered, and every curve feels like you’re entering a different world.

I tried the Famichiki egg sandwich…
Sanzoku-yaki Egg Sandwich at FamilyMart.
The garlic-soy flavor cuts through the creamy dashi egg, and the texture combo is unreal—juicy grilled chicken + soft fluffy egg.
Here’s the catch: Sanzoku-yaki isn’t always available.
So if you spot it, that’s your sign.
Hasedera’s garden is the real reason to go.

Tokyo ramen lovers—this one’s for you. 🍜🔥
If you’re around Ogikubo, don’t miss Temomi Ramen Juhachiban.
Do you know when cherry blossoms bloom around Mt. Fuji? 🌸🗻
Tokyo’s cherry blossoms don’t have to mean shoulder-to-shoulder crowds. 🌸
If you want a classic hanami vibe with a local feel, go to Inokashira Park (Kichijoji)—a big pond, boats drifting by, and sakura reflections on the water that look straight out of a movie.
One of the easiest “wow” views of Mt. Fuji in Kawaguchiko?
Mt. Fuji from Kawaguchiko Ohashi Bridge. 🗻🌊
No ticket. No hike. Just step onto the bridge and you get a wide, cinematic view—Fuji rising over the lake like a perfect postcard.
