Sorry for linking back to FB, but I really wanted to share my conductor photo from this post.
I'm stoked with it, it's one of my best photos from the TSO to date and it'll be hard to top!

Long exposure of a surf break at sunset
Sunset shot of a surf break, palm trees and a beach. A silhouette of person walking along the beach is barely visible. The breaking waves have spray being blown off the tops.
Finally pulled my camera out again.
The first photo is a long exposure, 3s, of the reef in front of my hotel room. The processing, the colours and textures, are mildly inspired by Keith Lane, a Tasmanian painter.
The other photo is from on the beach near my hotel room, looking towards the surf break
So silly and unnecessary
A man wearing high vis and a hard hat exhales smoke. He is standing in a deep trench, only partially lit from above and behind. He is standing with his hands in his pockets and is looking down, apparently deep in thought.
Years ago, I used to work in the #pilbara , working on pipeline projects. I'd carry my camera with me everywhere, which wouldn't be tolerated these days. Shooting #industrial portraits always results in interesting photos.
A man's hand holds a hot cup of coffee in front of a low camp fire. The fingernails are painted blue and the cup is a dark yellow enamel.
Choose #hedonism where possible
As some one that use lidar, geotex and eats pizza, I found this very upsetting
It's got to be one of the best things you can do.
That and driving for hours late at night with the windows down and good music
Peak use of frosted glass.
Mind my own business and move on. I've read enough old tales to know nothing good happens from me being involved
Enoki has to be one of the best mushrooms!
A worker uses hand signals to someone out of frame. There's a crew operating an airlift pump to clean out a driven steel pile. The image is high key black and white.
A worker guides an airlift pump pips into a pile. The workers concerned is clear as they look up to the top of the pipe while using one hand to guide the pipe. The image is black and white.
Workers are operating an airlift pump to clean out driven piles. The lead worker is using hand signals to someone out of frame. Water and debris sprays everywhere, making the scene chaotic. The image is black and white.
Shooting industrial and construction has its challenges, but a long lens is normally enough to keep me out of trouble!

Photo showing two small islands in very shallow water near the Southern edge of the Cocos Keeling Islands atoll. The shallow water shows clearly the patterns made in seabed by the currents and at the bottom of the image, the seabed drops off suddenly to much deeper and darker water.
Some of the places I end up going for work are pretty alright

Don't You Want Me, as sung by the helicopter pilot in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
How did you go?
I thought it was great, cinematic.
I want to know more too!

Over a decade ago, working on a wharf construction job in Dampier, Western Australia, our morning prestart was interrupted by a pair of biffing kangaroos.
The photos here are out of order, sorry, but they started before the sun broke the horizon and continued on as the light improved.

There's not to say. Live performance and production quality vidual effects. It captures the feeling so perfectly.
I wish I had seen them live.
Obviously yes
Looks like it was hanging out for scritches
That is an excellent sword!
That was pretty far out there
Right field
We will probably never know why there are increasing numbers of wild fires.
It's an unsolvable mystery.
But we should probably give more money to oil and gas just incase
My one good idea for 2025 is to have a YouTube style site for live streaming webcams set up around bird baths, feeders, fish cameras like the one at weerdsluis lock.
There seems to no site that collates and curates all the wildlife and environmental webcams.
A woodland nymph appears on a dry creek bed.

Artfully lit macro photo of stained-glass corn, showing the deep colours and textures of each kernel, against a black background
This is a focus stacked macro of some stained glass corn I grew last summer.
There's 38 photos in this stack, to achieve that sharp detail most of the way through the depth of the image.
#funfact about this corn, it makes tasty popcorn and maize flour.
Ghosting a party is an important skill
