Picture with a large orange and black wasp at the top and a larger pale brown spider at the bottom. The wasp is standing over the spider
Came across this Orange Spider Wasp (Heterodontonyx bicolor) just as she was paralysing this unfortunate Huntsman spider, who she’ll now seal into a nest along with an egg that she lays.

Well this was neat.

Portrait shot of Dicranopalpus ramosus harvestman resting on a plant stem.
A pair of mating harvestmen on a moss covered tree stump. Found at night in woodland.
Some of my favourite #harvestman #opiliones shots from last year. Getting a good shot is tricky without a stray leg getting in the way😅.
They're #arachnids but don't spin silk or have venom. They can't re-grow legs like spiders either and I often find them with several missing.

Day 30 of my 2024 favorites: BLUE
I'd been aware of Sphodros abboti (one of our local mygalomorph species) for a few years, and that the males looked like this, but seeing one for myself was a bucket list event. This boy absolutely did not disappoint 💙
