this is why i’m invested in public comms. this theory of change isn’t easily measurable & will take time, but it seems more viable to me than appealing to goodwill of big tech (or even govrmnt's & regulators, who either are in bed with big tech or won't do much if there is no public pressure)

I'm the same way. There tons of jobs fishing to use people's likeness and data in bad ways. Plus jobs aren't really held to much standards on what third party vendors do with info even if is job related.

So much gets surpressed so this machine can keep running, but we have to go out of our way to seek out non American perspectives.

This makes Americans bad citizens of the world. While the capitalists pillage resources elsewhere and feed us a steady diet of pain, pills, and propaganda, we remain not just ignorant of this empire's devastating impact elsewhere, but also largely unmoved.

But the reat of the world has access to many other stories, including those exported through American propaganda. So when Americans interact beyond these borders, we're operating from a lack of context, of story.

And. It. Shows.

This means that people living in America, including Black Africans in various stages of diaspora, are cut off from the stories that the world has access to because American hegemony requires this agnosis.

Tried to explain this to someone who kept saying that their communities do try to engage the Africas and other international locations, but this is about America's institutions of propaganda—publishing, news, television, cinema, education—and what stories they... propagate.

America's propaganda requires people of all ethnicities—Black, white, etc—living here to be literally agnostic—without knowledge—about the rest of the world. You can tell by the stories that are allowed to be told.
