A thread on twitter between Matthew Goodwin and Giacomo Benedetto
I was just going through my old files when I found this: my calling out of Matt Goodwin on twitter from January 2017.

This evening I attended a rejoin #Erasmus+ celebration at Westminster addressed by Europe Minister Nick Thomas-Symonds MP @europeanmovement.co.uk
What? Oh yes, the US, the country where the shore can be private property and the subject of big beautiful real estate deals. #Feudalism
Not sure which country's head of state you mean. In many European countries and in Canada, head of state and head of government are not the same person.
If a Latin American head of state can be kidnapped, the same can happen to the head of government of a NATO country.

Daffodils
Spotted, 27 December 2025 in Hampshire. #Daffodils #ClimateChange
I did spot daffodils two years ago on 26 December.
Some good news: UK to rejoin #Erasmus+ but let's cautiously wait until details are published tomorrow.

What actually explains Gill's reselection in 2019, regardless of #Farage now claiming he was merely a bad apple? It's extraordinary given the deselection or voluntary retirement of 21 of the 24 Brexit Party/UKIP MEPs.

In 2014, 24 MEPs were elected for #UKIP. In 2019, only 3 were reselected for the Brexit Party: Farage himself, Gill and one other www.theguardian.com/world/2025/d... 1/2

Text from Guardian interview with Alan Sked
#NigelFarage reference in a 2014 Guardian interview with UKIP's founder Alan Sked, 1/2
Text from article in The Guardian
Sked's reference to the Farage of 1993 around the time of the Newbury byelection was more strongly worded than what is reported in that interview in The Guardian, which nevertheless concludes:

Polandβs Vice President Radoslaw Sikorski absolutely torches Elon Musk.
I'll not forget what Alan Sked told me at the LSE about the attitudes that Farage had when he and Sked first met in the early 1990s, a decade after the reported incidents at Dulwich www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Regional government elections are being held today in Veneto, Puglia & Campania. If things go as predicted there should be easy wins for the centre-right in Veneto & the centre-left in Puglia. Campania should also go to the centre-left by a smaller majority. Voting continues tomorrow until 3 p.m.
