Because 90% of the nonsense I post here doesn’t get any traction on its own, I guess that means I can say whatever I want with impunity.

If your feminism isn’t intersectional and your environmentalism isn’t anti-imperialist — reevaluate your values.

Come on, lexicographers, just admit it when you've got no idea what a word actually means 😂

Ancient Greek technically does have an ablative if you count the suffix -θεν as such (e.g. Ἀθήναθεν, "(away) from Athens"), but I get your point.

Special Episode - Swords and Cinema with Dr Jeremiah McCall - The Partial Historians - Ancient Roman History with smart ladies We interview Dr McCall about the way that the Roman military and ancient warfare has been depicted in Hollywood movies.

Everything's coming at once. I thoroughly enjoyed talking with @partialhistorians.bsky.social Dr. G and Dr. Rad last July about my book Swords and Cinema and the way that Roman Warfare is portrayed in movies up to the 20 oughts. The podcast has now dropped.

Scientists warn fake research is spreading faster than real science
A major investigation found organized networks producing fake scientific papers, selling authorships, and manipulating journals to mass-publish fraudulent research.

Northwestern University
Summary:
A sweeping new study from Northwestern University reveals that scientific fraud is no longer just the work of a few rogue researchers—it has evolved into a global, organized enterprise. By analyzing massive datasets of publications, retractions, and editorial records, researchers uncovered networks involving “paper mills,” brokers, and compromised journals that systematically produce and sell fake research, authorship slots, and citations.

I went on @thisguysucked.com expecting fun snark and hot takes. It did not disappoint, but even better was seeing how deeply @ceaubin.com cares about history. She's a hater, yes, but what she's really focused on is how the significance we give history depends on the way we study it. Great show

This is an excellent thread which gives the lie to one of the great branding successes of our times, namely the idea that reactionary rightwingers are by default subtle, deep, intellectually coherent & responsible thinkers, rather than the petulant child-men they usually tend to be.

I don’t care, send Kai, Barron, and Nair Satanyahu to Iran. If the warmongers want this so badly, send their children and grandchildren to the frontlines. Why should working class people be the first to die?

Your methodology doesn't have to be revolutionary - it just has to be right for your research question. Solid execution beats flashy innovation.

The actual case being made here, that AI can be a kind of sounding board or conceivably a tutor, is already satisfied by working with other human beings, which in addition brings benefits AI cannot bring.

Also, I am tired of the blanket assertions AI is here "forever."
