everytime i see a HERD of people call a video game adaptation film that doesn't fit their list of criteria as "bad" (... and that criteria is mostly "OHHHHHH NOOOO why isn't it like the gaem i pwayyyy!!!!!111!!!"... ) it just makes me facepalm... 😭

( ^ i say "bad movie" in the lingo/sense of how people usually identify "bad movies" there in that sentence; in real life i don't usually follow a crowd when they judge a movie for being "bad" or "good" because nuances absolutely fucking exist & a piece of media being "bad" or "good" is subjective)

the lesson goes for anything too: the moment you learn to let go of expectations is the moment you get to enjoy things on your own terms, not by a list of criteria held over your head by other people ✌🏼 bad movie but you had fun? at least YOU had fun. other people can go wallow. honestly.

if you enjoy something why should you be influenced by other people's critiques on it? film, game, etc? are you LETTING yourself be influenced by them? that's a shame because last i heard, you are YOUR own person. life is so fucking short to carry other people's opinions on a film/media on your back

also? if you like something or an adaptation that a certain demographic/specific people think "sucks" just because of numbers on a screen on the internet and they shame you for it, they fucking suck and don't believe them. like things on YOUR own terms, not because of "critic" numbers on a screen!

i feel like sometimes people really do dismiss the fact that when it comes to video game adaptation films it will NEVER be 1:1 & yearning for it to BE 1:1 is an extremely steep *personal* expectation, not necessarily what "should" be.

both can absolutely exist; one of them doesn't have to be canon.

i see, i can understand that. especially if you're used to the original game.

-as much as I would love to experience the remake games immediately i've had my fill of the original games & they still absolutely carry me through. fond memories.

maybe i'll give them a chance one day but i'm enjoying watching others experience the stories for the first time in a different way.
