Great article, thank you for sharing! A professor shared these findings with me sometime ago so I don’t have the specifics. I understand they’re publicly available though.

Hello @andy-cox.bsky.social. Please could you give me the reference for that paper on road danger from phone distraction? I might use it for a future @bmj.com article. Here's a 2022 article I wrote www.bmj.com/content/379/... about road injuries and deaths being a major (and fixable) health issue.

Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas and city center in 2021.”

4AT - Rapid Clinical Test for Delirium Detection 4AT: rapid assessment test for delirium detection. Designed by Alasdair MacLullich (University of Edinburgh), Tracy Ryan and Helen Cash (NHS Lothian). Used in clinical care by doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and other healthcare professional

Made the 4AT #delirium assessment tool with 2 colleagues in 2011 to help improve the rates of detection in my hospital at the time. Also made a website - www.the4AT.com - to help with dissemination.

Pleased to say it has now been widely adopted & has a large evidence base.

Great to see CPOC Board Partner @rcphysicians.bsky.social set out a clear view on digital & AI.

Digital infrastructure must be clinically led, starting with patient need, safety and outcomes, not driven by what technology alone can do.

We must get fitter if we’re to afford the future, says McNally McNally in traffic outside Eastbourne hospital. Cycling on the pavement is forbidden. Plans for a bus and cycle route running three miles from Polegate to the hospital were stopped by councillors. ...

The NHS itself is responsible for 4% of the traffic on UK roads. As an anchor institution, it should be leading the change. Yet all anyone’s trying to do there “is convert the fleets to electric when in fact what we should be doing is supporting the staff to commute by active travel or by bus.”
