I voted Green in the last election, partly as an act of conscience, primarily as the seat was so safe I could register a protest without fear.

I didn’t have an issue with the horror aspect, more that it was essentially From Dusk ‘Till Dawn, stripped of exploitation roots and instead saddled with a (necessary) message that wasn’t delivered with any of the deft skill that Jordan Peele managed in his first couple of films.
Disappointed but not surprised, much of the narrative for award season is almost etched in stone by the time the nominations are announced anyway. Poor Things’ recent success was always going to go against all involved too.
They also had Cornelius and Zira, the most human and humorous characters from either species.
Thought 2025 was a thoroughly underwhelming year at the cinema, but at least I can take heart that arguably the best film of a fairly mediocre field has triumphed at the BAFTAs. Just can’t get with the hype for Sinners and was beginning to wonder if it was only me.
