how a small (~15) prolific and opinionated set of reviewers could steer a field over time
This is great, and even these numbers underestimate the effect. Some fields have <10 qualified reviewers, one loud voice can tank or lift papers on its own

the explosion of any technique inevitably brings an avalanche of papers that misuse, over-claim, or rediscover things.
