“He has no national security experience, no law enforcement experience, and no experience in immigration or any of the other issues the department deals with.
On the other hand, he did run his family’s plumbing business.”

Out of 10 men , one makes a sexual joke at a woman, two laugh, three fake a chuckle to fit in, and four stay silent. None of them speak up. Later, none of them still believe they're the "good guys." But from the woman's perspective , the laughter, the silence , the looking away, it all creates the same environment. So when women say "most men are the same," this is what they mean: not that every man harassed women, but that most men helpmprotect the system that does.

Yea, I see the resemblance to the other nine men. Taking it in seriously.
During #WomensHistoryMonth, I can personally reflect on this, and feel amazed at how women have made history despite this built in disadvantage.
Backwards, in heels, and harassed.
In contrast to the coverup of the EPSTEIN crimes here in America, there are ongoing investigations in the UK, France, Turkey, Poland, Latvia & Lithuania that is sure to expose his central, filthy role in the largest crimes against humanity case in world history. #AccountabilityIsComing
Portrait of Émile du Châtelet by Marianne Loir
At age 42, with her career at full steam, du Châtelet gave birth to the child of poet Jean François de Saint-Lambert. She died of a pulmonary embolism just six days later. Today she is commemorated by the annual Émilie du Châtelet Prize given by the Société Française de Physique. #WomenInSTEM 🧵7/7
Émilie de Châtelet’s translation of Isaac Newton’s Principia Mathematica
Émilie du Châtelet was the first to translate Newton’s Principia Mathematica into French, but did even more: She added important commentary about planetary orbits and included her derivation of the conservation of energy from the principles of mechanics, which Newton had not done. #WomenInSTEM 🧵6/7
“Institutions de Physique” by Émilie de Châtelet
Her 1740 book “Institutions de Physique” (“Lessons in Physics”) synthesized contemporary ideas in physics. In the book she emphasized the very Einsteinian idea that absolute position is an idealization and that only relative position is a measurable quantity. #WomenInSTEM 🧵5/7
Dissertation On the Nature and Propagation of Fire by Émilie du Châtelet (1744)
In 1737 the Royal Academy of Science in Paris held an essay competition on the nature and competition of fire. Du Châtelet’s essay became the Academy’s first publication by a woman. She argued that fire is a massless particle—perhaps presaging the 20th-century idea of a photon. #WomenInSTEM 🧵4/7
Frontispiece of Éléments de la philosophie de Newton, 1738
In 1733 she also began a long relationship with the poet Voltaire. She tutored him in physics, and co-authored the 1738 book “Elements of the Philosophy of Newton.” In the frontispiece of the book du Châtelet is depicted as reflecting Newton's heavenly insights down to Voltaire. #WomenInSTEM 🧵3/7
Arms of the house of Châtelet
Born to a member of the court of Louis XIV, Émilie was married at age 18 to the Marquis Florent-Claude du Chastellet-Lomont, with whom she had three children. In 1733, at age 26, she considered her marital responsibilities fulfilled and began to study mathematics in earnest. #WomenInSTEM 🧵2/7
Portrait of Émile du Châtelet by Maurice Quentin de la Tour
For #WomensHistoryMonth: Let us celebrate the life and accomplishments of French mathematician and physicist Émilie du Châtelet (1706-1749). She spread the then-new ideas of Isaac Newton on the Continent, and played a key role in developing the idea of energy conservation. 🎢⚛️🧪 #WomenInSTEM 🧵1/7
CNN airs compilation of JD Vance on the campaign trail saying he would keep the U.S. out of war in the Middle East. "We're going to stop sending our young people to far away lands. We are not the policemen of the world. Our interests are very much in not going to war with Iran."
Six years ago this week, an unplanned disaster engulfed the world. Trump catastrophically mismanaged it. The economy collapsed and 1m+ died.
Now reelected, he’s on the verge of topping that, only this time the disaster is entirely of his own making.
The results may be even worse.
One of the finest physics colloquia I’ve ever seen was the one presented at Stanford by Don Herbert, aka Mr. Wizard, back in the 1970s. 🎢
AOC: The Pentagon has not passed an audit, and they are out here trying to kick people with disabilities off of Medicaid. It is corruption that is stealing from the public coffers — and that is the actual waste, fraud, and abuse.
I'm very proud of having worked in this wonderful project!

Historian here no literary scholar but here we are
And yet, not a word indicating agency in the title or subhead. It’s not “upon us”, it is a direct and obvious consequence of choices by US leadership

Plaque at the Rahlgasse 4 girls' grammar school, from which Marietta Blau graduated in 1914. English translation: Marietta Blau (1894-1970) graduated from this school in 1914. As a nuclear physicist she was a pioneer in the development of the photographic method of particle detection. This method made possible the discovery of "nuclear disintegration stars." Blau was forced to leave Austria in 1938.
Today she is commemorated by the Marietta Blau-Stipendium scholarship offered by the Austrian government. And in 2025 Austria's largest hub for particle physics research was inaugurated—the Marietta Blau Institute for Particle Physics (www.oeaw.ac.at/en/mbi/). #WomenInSTEM 🎢⚛️🧪 🧵7/7
