@baynature.org’s latest issue highlights 4 restoration sites around the Bay Area including our Sears Point property! For over 120 years, dikes held back the tides for farmland and ranches. Since the levee was broken in 2015, nature has reclaimed the land, once again making it a tidal marsh.

Nature teaches us that everything is connected: land, water, wildlife, people. Healthy ecosystems and healthy human communities depend on each other. On MLK Day, we invite you to reflect on how caring for the natural world is inseparable from caring for people.

Happy New Year! In 2026, we'd like to invite you to join us in slowing down to the "speed of wonder," as nature artist, naturalist, and author John Muir Laws says. The new year is often a time of goal-setting and action. We hope you also take some time to get outside with your curiosity and wonder!

Wherever you are this holiday season, may you find the joy, wonder, and hope in the world around you. 🩵

Where do butterflies and other insects go when it gets cold? Many will migrate, hibernate, or enter a state of suspended development called diapause. Volunteer John Hibbard visited Laufenburg Ranch at the end of Nov. for probably the last time until spring, but was still able to find a few insects.
