The last thing any parent with a child who has an autism diagnosis is to be put in a data base adding labels to them. I have fought long and hard to bring Canaan up to live as normal a life as possible. Putting him in a database solely to label him is just wrong.

A small bird with deep magenta and copper-toned feathers perches on a pale branch. Its most striking feature is a bright white cap on its head, contrasting sharply with its dark face and glossy plumage. The background is a smooth blur of green leaves.
Well, if I'm going to post #hummingbirds, I can't not post a Snowcap.

A pint of ice cream over flowing on a bench in front of Gracieβs in Somerville. The pint has various Easter candy coming out of it. The label on the pint says 50% off Easter candy Sweet cream blasted full of Easier candy I got for 50% off, i got so much I didn't have to steal any from my kids this year. Contains gluten and peanut butter, unfortunately.
Every year we make a flavor called 50% Off Easter Candy made with whatever candy I can get marked down so itβs a different mix every year. We made it today and itβll be available later this week.

A recent study found that "mild" stress is enough to trigger PTSD in autistic individuals. Think about that. MILD stress triggering PTSD in autistic individuals. And not enough people are talking about it. This is a SIGNIFICANT finding, if you ask me.
So let's talk about it...
folks, autistic people feel empathy. they often don't display emotion in a neurotypical way, which means people often *refuse to empathize with them.*
A Queen Anne style transom stained glass panel with a clear center and red, blue, amber, and green border. Next to it on the light table are two small stained glass panels framed in distressed black wood frames. They're identical Victorian panels with clear background, blue and red borders, and a red, blue, amber, and green center design
Getting a couple of smaller jobs off the workbench tonight before I begin tackling the major restoration work that I'm so excited for. These are for two different clients, both are client designed. Something is in the air that demands yellow, red, blue, and green English muffle glass!

Composite shows four Hubble images in quarters. At top left is a crisp view of Mars in shades of orange, blues, and browns. At top right is planetary nebula NGC 2899, which is shaped like a single macaroni noodle, with its central torus appearing semi-transparent and blue and green, and its top and bottom edges in orange. At bottom left is a tiny portion of the Rosette Nebula. Very dark gray material shaped like a triangle takes up the center. At bottom right is barred spiral galaxy NGC 5335 with a milky yellow center that forms a bar surrounded by multiple blue star-filled spiral arms that wrap up counterclockwise.

A Great Blue Heron, a large water bird with long legs, neck and bill, seen here flying over grass in an estuary area - actually with two other herons but I only managed to get a good shot of a couple (coming later). The bird has a huge wingspan (6ft) and the wing feathers are darker bue-grey at the ends and along the rear of the wing, with the inner wing matching the back and tail. The legs are trailing and the yellow bill can be seen and the mostly white head, with a darker cap.
A good angle to appreciate the wingspan of this magnificent Great Blue Heron. #Birds πͺΆ #Photography #BirdPhotography #FujiFilm #XT5

When you, white US liberal, cheer bad things happening to people in red states because "they voted for Trump" notwithstanding that lots of marginalized people live there, just consider what you'd say if people in other countries say *you* deserve oppression because Trump won the popular vote.
This infographic illustrates the high levels of stress experienced by autistic adults, their families, and children. It highlights that 98% of autistic adults find stress to be a significant issue, and 95% of parents/carers report a high or very high impact of stress on their autistic child's education or work. The infographic also explores the impact of stress on sleep, mental health, and relationships, revealing a similar trend of high impact across these areas. The infographic defines autism and stress, explaining that autism is a difference in the way the brain processes information, leading to difficulties in communication and sensory processing. Stress is described as the body and mind's response to external demands, which is often more severe, frequent, and difficult to manage for those on the autism spectrum. The infographic concludes by acknowledging the challenges faced by individuals and families on the autism spectrum, highlighting the need for understanding, support, and the eradication of misconceptions about autism.

The canceled grands are shock and awe, but the real damage will come from the long-term (massive) reductions in funding to the entire US research ecosystem and the defunding of entire fields and initiatives for training, growing, and diversifying the research workforce.

So basically our core biomedical agenda has gone from cancer and heart disease research with major investments in alzheimers/dementia research to jacking up the sperm count of teenage males and a new wild goose for the 'hidden causes' of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
