And Trump definitely wants to do it. He’s been fascinated by the idea of using nukes for decades. It’s going to come down to how upset he gets and how much he’s feeling his own mortality. People like him tend to try to take people out with them when they go.

“Inevitable” takes the very clear choice being made by anyone who does these horrific things and erases it. We all have agency. Makes it more confusing, more likely, enables ambient antisemitism, yes. Inevitable? Nah.

What ARE you saying then?

How does “we need to do several crucial things all at once” imply any of those are inconsequential? Your responses sure do that though! About everything but voting. Over emphasizing voting as THE biggest action, is a huge part of how we got where we are right now.

Ya gotta “yes and” these things because we have multiple very urgent things all at one time. Voting is a one time action only for an election. The rest needs to be consistently done as close to every day as possible.

Now, my Hebrew teachers growing up were Israeli, and at the time it didn’t even occur to me that there might be a Zionist reason for it. I assumed it just made sense to be taught by native speakers. I still don’t know because that shul never made Zionism an obvious priority either.

You caught me off guard because my friends and extended family attend a variety, including Conservative, Modern Orthodox, and Chabad. All of those people would call themselves “liberal Zionist” or Zionist and I know because they find it important enough to speak on.

I’ve yet to be in a Reform congregation that emphasizes Israel. And that’s all I’ve ever attended as a member. Occasional references/prayers. It has never been even *a* real focus.

Old Testament? Hell is a Christian thing.

He has recently said again that he sees no reason to apologize for it.

He’s wildly unapologetic still! Not at all how one who actually is repulsed by Nazis would ever react, especially in such a sustained manner after backlash.

Steve, that doesn’t improve upon what you said. That simply removes him and Christianity from the “Old Testament” that you’re still portraying as bad and needing to be rejected.

Then why is it so often used as the contrast for a good Jesus vs bad angry Jesus or bad angry G-d? If you think it through you will know why it’s not projection, it’s simply caring about the impact that has on Jewish people.

Sure, but you said “who cares” and I was responding to that.

There are actual major shenanigans happening today in more than one county that 1) turned lots of voters away and then 2) Texas Sup Ct paused the extended voting hours in Dallas Co that were meant to partially make up for it and those votes cast after 7pm may not be counted at all.

04.03.2026 04:19 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

I mean, we should always care that all votes are allowed to be cast and are in fact counted. That’s basic stuff.

Oh, I’ve been tussling with all sorts of “liberal” voters locally who have said the most disgusting things they tried to cram into “electability” rants. Because of *that* I think Talarico will need to do LOTS of outreach to the Black community to make amends for those supporters.

Well there is no Texas voter. We have more reliable Dem voters here than NY does, for example. The outcomes have been maddening for decades now, but we are still a purple state with many millions of voters who have never gone with the white Republican.

Truly concerned it won’t!

Regardless, I chose her because I think she has a better chance. I hope *whoever* wins we are able to come together and set some records for turnout.

Being more scared of Crockett is the opposite of thinking she’s weaker. You’re hearing a bunch of Talarico fans saying the GOP thinks she’s weaker, which is not the GOP. She polled better than him with conservatives, the very people he promises to sway.

Maybe. Have you watched Cornyn’s nose dive into the abyss? It’s wild to watch him turn into an internet troll. Nobody seems to much like him at this point. Maybe he will benefit from memories of who he once was, but it’s really hard to tell if that just adds to the distrust.

To be clear, their smears were all VERY appealing to Dem voters. They looked like amazing campaign ads for him.

I’ve seen so many people projecting their own biases through an “electability” assertion. It’s wild. Meanwhile the GOP has spent massive amounts of time and money smearing Talarico. It sure looks like they’re quite nervous about both candidates.

She’s spent significant time there, including repeated trips to the Dilley family immigration prison where she’s personally advocated for the release of families. I think we are seeing some impact from that.

They never wanted her to win the primary.

Sorry, I said that because I didn’t know where you live. If you watch legislative sessions they both have were very active participants. Both did the quorum break. Things like that. But she’s definitely always had a larger national news and social media presence.

He’s skirted a line by saying his candidacy is based in his Christianity. But he’s also insisted there needs to be a clear line between church and state. His constant line skirting (and choice of slogan) makes me uneasy as a non-Christian, but if he’s crossed that line it hasn’t been publicized.

He’s in the Texas House, not the House. Crockett is who went up from the Texas House to the House. Unless you live here, or you saw his viral moment last year, there’s not much reason you’d have heard of him.

It was the redistricting litigation. She waited until she didn’t have a district anymore. It wasn’t really a *choice* to enter late.
