The covers of three books. Left to right: Gandolfini: Jim, Tony, and the life of a legend, about the late Sopranos actor. The cover shows Gandolfini looking shy, peering offscreen with one unobstructed eye and another that peeks out between the fingers of his right hand.
CENTER: The cover of Cinema Her Way, a coffee table book by Marya E. Gates about female directors. On the cover is actress Michelle Rodriguez as the boxer heroine of Karyn Kusama's sports drama Girlfight, about a woman boxer.
RIGHT David Hockney's painting collection The Arrival of Spring in Normandy, showing a painting of a verdant field. In the background of the field is green grass. in the upper foreground are the branches of a tree sprouting white, cottony buds.

CENTER The cover of The Ring Cycle, Matt Zoller Seitz and Odie Henderson's book on the Rocky and Creed films. The cover is white except for a pair of black boxing gloves floating there

RIGHT The cover of Documentary Now!, the 600-page, 7-pound coffee table book celebrating the aforementioned IFC Channel series parodying classic documentaries.

Greetings, new friends! You may know me as an author, a prolific Bluesky poster and 4th place finisher on So You Call That Dancing? But you might not know that my partner Judith (@mzpress) and I have an online arts bookstore that's growing every day. Full inventory here: mzs.press/EVERYTHING-W...

This Caps team is gonna be the end of me. You can’t go two up and then cough up four to a team in the midst of a fire sale.

Think they might be married for a year. He went to the bathroom and clearly steeled himself up with some retorts, which came flying as soon as he returned. Guess he won’t be going to the bone temple when he gets home amirite

The beginning of this set-to was her complaining that the bone temple was more of a thriller than a horror and him pleading with her to stop spoiling it in a bar where people are waiting for the 7pm show

She’s gone after his light green chequered old navy spring shirt and boy is she pissed he wore it despite her telling him not to

Should add that my rooting interest is forever against Philly. Someone has to stand up for the legacy of Hitchbot and that someone is me.

Without the commanders to root for and the cowboys or the chiefs to root against, I have absolutely no feelings about any of the playoffs at all. I’m even ok with the Pats now tbh.

Absolutely best to leave this discourse be tbh

College football, the Capitals, and the Vinyl in Unrivaled. No way I’m not gonna feel sexist trying to balance this evening.

I don’t know that it wants you to like him or forgive him. I think it presents are marked shift of values but I don’t think it expects you to root for him. It does play on sports movie tropes though, which tend to get us rooting despite ourselves.

He’s a selfish prick for sure but he does change to some degree. His reaction to the vampire line says a lot.

But I can see hating it. I also can’t understand the discourse. Like we’ve never had a movie with a piece of shit protagonist before.

The notion that Marty Mauser doesn’t have an arc or learn anything is so strange to me. It might feel like he’s learned *enough* to you but there’s a clear arc and development of a worldview even before he sees the baby.

I saw third eye blind at the capitals 50th season kick off and the halftime at the orange bowl weirdly feels like a step back, especially as the tv cut them off halfway through.

My New Years Resolution is to read fewer books and be more online. You got a discourse? Hit me up because I’m gonna throw out an unresearched take that’s gonna smack very faintly of truth.
