I used to grow milkweed for the Monarch butterflies. I hug trees and I like to take photographs of nature, insects, animals, and birds. I try to be a good human. California born and bred, recently relocated to southwestern Arizona.

Rooted in Culture: Oregon’s Wild Camas Camas root has long nourished the people of the Northwest as a culturally significant staple. It’s served a pivotal role in the diet and trade of Tribal communities in Oregon as well as the land itsel...

A good article on wild camas and how indigenous people dug it up and prepared it for eating.

The women whom I love and admire for
their strength and grace did not get that
way because shit worked out. They got
that way because shit went wrong, and
they handled it. They handled it a thousand
different ways on a thousand different days, but they handled it. Those women are my superheroes.

A Monarch flew around the yard today. The first shot, it nearly collided with a sparrow or finch. I wish I had a Conoclinium greggii plant. they are such good nectar. I also saw my first ever (at this house) Tiger swallowtail (not pictured).

Try and find the beauty every day. Maybe a Tulip tree. It was just so pink!

Speak up for grizzly bears! Urge Congress to oppose the Grizzly Bear State Management Act.

Urge your members of Congress to oppose the Grizzly Bear State Mgmt Act. One of the slowest reproducing land mammals in North America, removing ESA protections opens the door for a trophy hunt that would put grizzlies back on the path to extinction.

Two’fer Tuesday! A pair of Trumpeter Swans strengthen their bond doing a little courtship display. I like the “chest bump” at the end to celebrate.

I would think so too. I called the city dept. that oversees it. The guy said if flowers start blooming, they will shut it down. It's so sad.

Blurry sort of, I was across the yard. But it did rain good for about an hour today. So thankful.

This was one of my favorite geraniums. I loved the single petal-ness and the pretty pink color.

Three years ago we were camping at Imperial Sand Dunes #Glamis. There was hardly anyone there, the wildflowers were bloooming and bonus nightime altocumulous.

2019 was a #SuperBloom year. Walker Canyon, Lake, Elsinore, California. It was magnificent. The hills were an absolutely blinding orange. They city shuts the canyon down now if the flowers start blooming good because people park crazy places and behave badly.

Walker Canyon, Lake Elsinore, California. Photo 1 shows how someone with a dog left its poo hanging from the fence. Photo 2, look how many people went off the established trail to "get a better picture." These are the people who helped keep this place shut down when the flowers start blooming good😞
