Quite early it seems.
Orange Underwing just now, Putney Heath, SW London. #MothsMatter
Trouble is, red and QGIS are not a good mix! π΅βπ«
Fine time, for a wine time! π·
Not even bothered there yet, Dave.
Andy, I live in the middle of a mixed woodland just of the A3!
Location, location, location, Dave!

It's always worth checking as it's very similar to Acleris kochiella (Elm Tortrix).
Indeed it is π
Great! many thanks π
I've also added it to the MapMate Taxa Library π
I've judt DM'd @cambsmoths.bsky.social as well.
That's not necessary, Steve. However, as it is present in VC29, we would very much like the details of the records.
Many thanks, Jim.
Many thanks, Dave, I'll pass this on.

Absolutely, which is why for something as significant as a new to Britain, where confusion is likely should ideally be accompanied by a specimen for critical examination, which is the author's argument.
As far as I'm aware only one image was taken of the specimen in question. The author notes the west/north-westerly winds at the time were not conducive to migration from the near continent and at a time when closely-related phenotypes are abundant.

>>> method (pheromone trap/open lure), dates trapped and time of day (including range) if known. Site details are not essential if these need to be withheld but a general location e.g. 1 km square would be good. Any negative trapping results would also be good. >>>
>>> Brown about Warwickshire finds. We know there have been reports from a number of other counties on social media and would be very interested to know which of these it has been recorded from and in particular how far north and west the records go. Any further details would be useful such as >>>

A well-founded argument casting doubt on the inclusion of Pieris mannii (Southern Small White) as a British species, based on an image and no supporting specimen is published in the Entomologist's Rec. J. Var. 138 (2026). Was it merely an aberration of P. rapae (Small White)? #UKButterflies
Hi all, I'm delighted to announce the latest version of the MapMate Taxa Library is now available to download from the new MapMate Support website at mapmate.info/taxalibrary..... #MothsMatter
I'm just shocked you've managed to enter your data so quickly! π
Dave, I believe they do move about, although I've no source to back this up.
Steve, I suspect my first trap of 2026 will be my next visit to Cheadle Towers.
