kind of crazy that if you have enough money and don't like what you see in the media, you can just buy up every film studio, news station, and social media app and change it

The choice is stark. Reform are the party of foreign wars and high bills.

The Greens want de-escalation and energy security through renewables. Solar and wind prices don't fluctuate when rogue US presidents launch illegal bombing campaigns.

It's funny to me when people who love to go on about second order effects of economic policies and the challenges of central planning without local knowledge suddenly drop all of that when it comes to foreign policy.

There’s a scenario here β€” not yet the central scenario by any means β€” where we have to revisit the debate about how to handle inflation driven by external supply shocks AKA terms of trade shocks and reconsider the lessons we failed to learn in 2023-24. Policy interest rates are a blunt tool.

Build the Rail! Save the Snails! How to speed up the planning system without trashing the environment

β€œFrance is not world-renowned for its streamlined and business-friendly system of bureaucracy; nor is it famous for the progressive and co-operative personalities of its rural residents.β€œ

I’m glad someone finally noticed this! It’s a huge problem for the abundance agenda in my opinion, because it puts them face to face with the kind of question they didn’t want to ask

wasn’t expecting such direct support for my loose mental theory that progress in gaming has replaced progress in real life for my generation

A small handmade felt figurine of the Knight from Hollow Knight, with a white horned mask and black eyes, sits holding a gray needle on a mossy base. The figure is displayed on a wooden surface between two round candle holders, with a black-and-white patterned tapestry in the background.

I’ve only started to listen to this, but so far it’s good, and @unlearnecon.bsky.social has a good track record of creating good stuff.

i actually prefer it when the mods actively hate the user base and vice versa, that’s how every great message board worked for years and i think we should give it a whirl

What the β€œAbundance Agenda” Leaves Out Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson’s new book Abundance has plenty of merits, writes Matt Bruenig, but its emphasis on growth and innovation must be married to other egalitarian concerns.

Started reading this without looking at the author and after a few paragraphs I was like "wait, is this @mattbruenig.bsky.social" and sure enough, it was jacobin.com/2025/03/abun...

Getting rejected from academic journals is a bit like dying in FromSoft games. It's really depressing, but you have to see it as a necessary part of the learning process.

Ben Shapiro interviewed a woman on his podcast, probably a Fox News pundit or something, and she literally said out loud that one reason to fight transgenderism is because it undermines and traditional nuclear family. It was a good few years ago. I also recall her being blonde. Anyone remember?

Imagine knowing your political leader is mentally unstable, dangerous, and corrupt and refusing to admit it or do anything about it.
