CEOs are incentivized to use trendy language to tell a story about what they're doing to goose up the stock price (it's basically what they are there to do) but the media (what's left of it, I do get that part) are not obligated to parrot it.
Many tech companies and especially Silicon Valley ones hired way way more people than they needed in 2022-2023 because CEO Groupthink and have been shedding people for at least 2 years. I'm not saying AI isn't useful for coding, but mostly this is a new label on a long running structural trend.
Really wish media would stop transcribing tech spin. More accurate: Jack Dorsey uses AI as latest excuse for ongoing multi-year downsizing effort.
