Don’t disagree but we gotta work with what we got
lol exactly!
Who is saying abolishing ICE can be done overnight? Sure, Dems are pointing in the right direction but they are, as always, terrible communicators. Leaders quickly negotiate against themselves, and soften/change their positions which confuses the public and negates momentum in any public debate
from my pov it's less about litmus tests and more about the party continuing to rely on slow, overly focus-grouped messaging that lack the force or emotion needed to cut through the BS.
we *should* explore the hypotheticals and figure out how to mitigate the immediate negatives (execs thinking layoffs + AI is the magic cure; the disturbing/dangerous bonds people/kids are making with chatbots), but we should be extremely clear about what AI is as a tool and what it isn't capable of
I don't think anyone is saying we won't ever get to something resembling the hype, but the tech isn't there (LLMs are not AGI), the financials are a shell game, and there's no way to reduce the extreme costs even with the most advanced hardware.
a Wii in 2026 is a radical political statement
of article credits that don't expire or something that adds up until a certain threshold at which point the reader is charged. It'd be difficult to fine tune it for consumer expectations and to get journalists on board, but the tech shouldn't be too complicated (hypothetically)
I always wondered if charging a tiny fee per article (as a separate tier from normal subs) would be a good way to attract casual readers who don't want to commit to a sub or would otherwise be encouraged to find a way around paywalls. It's tricky with credit card fees but it could be prepaid amounts
"Corn Pop" is my Roman Empire
Robin’s post House of cards career is worse than I imagined
But hey, work is work
And what exactly does this help people understand?
Oh wow a trump loving tiny town continues to blindly support him through thick, thin and public executions.
truly vital journalism getting previously unheard perspectives out there
Yeah at least the few pictures with names on them were already in the state prison system. They were simply transferred to ICE either last year or years ago.
I won't rule out option 2 for the rest of them lol

I think we could buy some time if we let him loose in a Staples
that shit would blow his mind
How do we prevent that re-polarization?
IMO, Ds messaging comes off as downplaying existential problems (Venezuela, ICE etc) by falling back on "distraction!".
Focusing on the economy should be a constant, with concerted effort to push that message w/ campaigns, anecdotes, etc rather than bland tweets and sneaking it into other concerns
He and Carrie Coon are very left leaning, which makes their portrayals all the better www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv...
Yeah the overarching plot is broadly straightforward but if you engage with it even just a little bit, you realize how many interesting ideas these narratives explore. Like Stephen lang has gone from an alien-hating cartoon general, to a semi-alien who loves a gun-fetishizing alien.
That’s art
Can you point to any examples where you or others have successfully “combatted dangerousness”?
Any single verifiable example will do
"recrimination" is an accusation in response to an accusation
This is a straightforward accusation that Democratic leadership is spineless and unable to "unite" let alone lead this fight.
The voters did our part, now we're told to wait quietly for our party to stand for something
come on now
Thanks! I definitely understand where you’re coming from
Also I did want to apologize for how pushy I was getting after I reread over what we talked about. I think I hyper-fixated on the discourse and lost the plot a bit
Regardless, I hope you have a good one!
No one is forcing you to engage in conversations about anything. I truly don't think it's entitled of me to simply ask for context. But again you are more than welcome to ignore me or others
And the point is, if some stuff bugged you, it's entirely possible it bugged me too or it would and I missed it, but when there's hundreds of hours of podcasts you have to understand that not everyone is able to catch everything
What's the point of making vague references on a public forum if you aren't expecting people to ask you to elaborate?
I have only tried to sincerely understand what's happening and your perspective in good faith but every time you have shut down the conversation
Can you please say what he said that bugged you?
You say you don't like being disrespected which I can respect, but I think it's fair to ask for the same in return. You responded to me earlier w/ "Search Taran and misogyny" and turned off comments
I searched, and only found the Maggie reference
Everyone is fallible but I've sen a lot of vague assertions claiming certainty while refusing to provide evidence. Like do you happen to remember when that happened or who said it?
Without anything tangible to go off, it can be frustrating to understand where these arguments are coming from.
Totally fair, can you at least give me a rough idea or point me in the right direction? I’m having trouble finding anything specific
We talked about how he portrayed Ashley’s game and disagreed about “active” she was but I don’t think anything specific about how he talked about Morgan came up
What did Taran say?
