Tinderbox: The Bell launches a new map of Glasgow's many fires
The propensity for so many buildings to catch fire has stoked conspiracy theories galore. Is there anything to them?
My feed is already awash with Glasgow fire conspiracy theorists talking mince. For some actual facts about the prevalence of conflagrations in the city, itโs well worth reading this brilliant, long-in-the-making analysis with map from @glasgowbell.bsky.social www.glasgowbell.co.uk/tinderbox-fi...

Why are there SO many fires destroying historical buildings in Glasgow? Tonightโs tragedy is just the latest.
@glasgowbell.bsky.social mapped them. โWith every conflagration there are whispers that thereโs slightly more to things than meets the eyeโ.

What about the ownership of Union Corner?
There's two main landlords at the centre.
One is Afton Estates Ltd, who own the unit the vape shop is located in.
The other is an offshore company with a trail to Tel Aviv. They own most of Union Corner. ๐

๐งตThe M8 is Scotland's busiest motorway, and its most controversial. Its construction split Glasgow and saw big swathes of the historic city demolished.
But it wasn't just buildings that were destroyed. This is story of two friends, parted by the M8 & reunited years later.

Gaelicโs popularity in Glasgow is a lifeline โ but has it come at a cost?
A new generation of Glasgow Gaels have revived Scotlandโs traditional tongue. Some worry about cultural erasure
๐งตIn 1988, the six pupils in Glasgow became the first cohort to be taught entirely in Gaelic. Their English-speaking classmates, nicknamed it the โGarlic Unitโ. It didnโt matter though; the six pupils were pioneers.
